I have the same exact problem, haven't been able to train properly for 3 months now. Doctor told me its a nerve damage around the knuckle area. It hurts like hell the next day, but I am able to spar and do technique and pad work just fine. Just stay away from the heavy bag and see if it helps any.

I've had the same thing a bunch of times.

In my experience, you need to take atleast a couple days off from punching with that hand. All the extra padding in your wraps and heavier gloves still won't reduce the impact enough to let it heal.

When it heals use the extra padding to prevent it from happening again, but it needs rest right now. You can still run and shadowbox and everything else, just no contact with whatever hand is hurt.

Definitely let it heal first.

Then, consider using the Winning NG-2 gel knuckle guards. Amazing stuff right here, I always use them.

I believe it's made of Beta-gel

Known current and retired pro boxers that use them in training are the Marquez brothers, Israel Vazquez, Fernando Vargas
