Bantamweight Eric Morel, who is in Puerto Rico with his family for the Easter holidays, still found time to hit the gym in order to squeeze in some training time to stay in shape for a possible title fight in the near future. Golden Boy Promotions had contacted the boxer on Wednesday to face Abner Mares on Saturday night in Los Angeles, but Morel turned the offer down because he wouldn't be ready for such a fight with so little notice. Golden Boy wanted Morel to replace the injured Joseph Agbeko.

Well, Morel just KO'd Maldonado. Now he thinks he can do the same to Mares or Donaire. But I don't think he can even get past Darchinyan moreso Montiel.

GBP isn't gonna find a world class opponent for Mares in this short a time. the won't be able to salvage the telecast.

Morel would have been a good replacement for Agbeko. He has a name and many people would have loved to see him get beaten up by Mares.
