Arrow Khans exit from Sky opens up doors for Froch...

Carl Froch is likely to be the beneficiary of Amir Khan’s pay-per-view bust up with Sky Sports.

Team Khan’s decision to switch to the fledgling Primetime cable network for Saturday night's contentious world light-welterweight title defence against Paul McCloskey appears to have opened a window for Sky to give Froch his long overdue exposure to their wider audience.

The Nottingham Cobra, who has been overlooked quite scandalously by mainstream television in his own land through a series of thrilling world title fights against many of the world’s other leading super-middleweights, is negotiating the broadcast rights for his Super Six semi-final against veteran Jamaican Glen Johnson in Atlantic City on June 4.
TV talks: Carl Froch could cash in on Amir Khan's pay-per-view bust-up with Sky in time for his forthcoming fight with Glen Johnson

Froch is doing the deals personally now he has severed ties with his long-time promoter Mick Hennessy, the problems with clinching major TV contract having become an issue between them.

Now, with Khan removed from their budget at least for the time being, Sky have freed up funds to engage in talks with Froch.

Both sides will be keen to reach agreement for at least a two-fight deal, the second being the final of the Super Six series assuming Froch goes through.

The fight against Johnson is also for Froch's world super-middleweight title. He is the heavy favourite to beat Johnson, as is America’s Andre Ward in next month’s first semi-final against Arthur Abraham.

Froch versus Ward, in a final which would unify most of the world championship alpha-belts, would have pay-per-view potential here and on the American Showtime network, the sponsors of this prolonged and at times troubled tournament.

That is no more than Froch deserves as he continues to take on the other big names in a talent stacked division

Carl deserves the exposure and big money more than Khan (or any other Bitish fighter) anyway, so this is great news.

He's the most exciting to watch, he fights the toughest opposition and he's scheduled for nothing but big fights. it would be wise for Sky to get some of his old fights on TV before the Johnson fight and get everyone fully familiar with him.

Froch being on Sky at this stage of his career means very little and won't benefit him a great deal.

The British viewership willing to stay up until 4 in the morning to watch Froch will be very low indeed. If the fight was in the UK at a normals time it would be a different story, but as it stands, an early morning Sky TV slot won't do a lot for his popularity in Britain.

Sky should have been on the bandwagon as early as the Pascal fight. They could have made Froch a huge star by now and made a nice profit from ppv sales.

I see no reason that Froch fights wouldn't get a lot of viewers. Most big boxing fans from the UK would stay up to watch and even some casual fans would take some interest in a world champion Brit fighting on Sky.

At the end of the day, you're pretty much gaurenteed an exciting fight with Froch. His fights being on ITV and the likes in the past doesn't really matter, Floyd Jnr wasn't a major attraction until the De La Hoya fight...things change.

I agree with showing his older fights-that would be a good way to build up his fan base. The great thing about Froch is that even though he's already fought some very high quality opposition there are still masses of opponents out there for him. He's tied up with S6 at the moment but after that he could fight Bute to be best in division, rematch Pascal at LH or fight Hopkins, he could copy Joe Calz and take a tuneup against Jones Jr if he wanted the cash, he could fight a Brit-DeGale or Groves will be a bigger name by then, he could rematch Kessler, Dawson or Cloud could be options at LH or what's to stop another MW making the step up... it's a lot easier to go up than down and whilst Martinez is a bit small to fight Froch I'm sure he'd fancy his chances against him over most of the other SMWs. There's also another Brit in Nathan Cleverly at the higher weight-basically there's a huge number of fights and the best bit is that every single one of those guys will think they can beat Froch because he just looks so beatable in the ring, yet somehow he digs deep and takes people where they don't want to go. There's a lot of potential there assuming he keeps winning, so if I'm Sky I take the gamble.
