Post Comments Thread For: Pavlik vs Lopez Possible For Pacquiao-Mosley Card

According to manager Cameron Dunkin, former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (36-2, 32 KOs) may possibly face undefeated Alfonso Lopez (21-0, 16KOs) on the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley pa-per-view undercard on May 7 in Las Vegas. Dunkin told Michael Rosenthal of ****** that he still needs to review some video of Lopez before he gives his stamp of approval on the fight. If Dunkin rejects Lopez, some of the other names being mentioned are Joey Spina and Brian Vera.

of course it would. But pavlik and his people know best what kind of shape physically and mentally he's in. Vera might not be a good idea considering what pavlik's been through. Another loss at this point would be devastating to kelly.

probably best to just get a win, build some confidence, shake the rust, then fight a guy like Vera, then after that the super six guys.

So are Pavlik's days at MW over, or what? Because I don't see a real future at 168, which is pretty stacked. Though I guess we could still get (an) entertaining fight(s) with Abraham, maybe Froch.

Kelly would have good fights with Kessler, Johnson, Abraham, Andrade, and a bunch of other people at 168. Let's not pretend like the guys I mentioned are Hopkins or Martinez.

Considering his only loses are to the Legend Hopkins two weight classes higher than his natural weight class, and Martinez in which he was beating and knocked down before that nasty cut by a Sergio left hand, one warm up fight, see how he looks, but Super Middle is bout to shaken up, cause he can beat any of those guys, but we will see. Pavlik Hypetrain now selling tickets.

Default Kelly, We Hardly Knew Ye.

The effects of alcoholism are devestating to the non athlete, let alone one who puts his life on the line each time he tries to earn a living in a prize ring.
As far as I know, Pavlik has yet to admit that he is a drunk.
What I can amplify, mostly from experience, is that you don't wind up in Betty Ford twice by accident. Until you surrender to the illness by saying 'I am an ......... then the deal ain't done.

Recent Kelly statements such as 'alcohol was never involved in my bad boxing performances' tells me that he still does not get it.
If you are a drunk, it affects every facet of your life.
That being said, Arum will be feeding him to the wolves putting him in with an invigorated Vera. He requires a real soft touch right about now.

My guess.
The promise of Kelly Pavlik is a dream that was partly realized and unless he devotes himself to recovery, shall never be fully recognized.

I love the man.
Just like the enigmatic Dick Ecklund, Pavlik should focus on getting well first and then make an educated decision about his future.

What does Arum care about Pavlik?
Kelly's woes have made for some interesting press which translates to better bucks.
Anyone who has no problem profiting from the remains of Shane Mosely has little regard for the health of a struggling drunk from Youngstown, Ohio.

Take a good look at Charlie Sheen.
That is what addiction and the squeal of squandered promise looks and sounds like. It is haunting and humiliating.
The echo of denial twisting itself into stark insanity.

Mr. Kelly Pavlik, the ex middleweight champ of the world deserves much better, for himself and his family.
Only Kelly can make that happen.
I pray he finds his path even if it means him never witnessing the winning end of another pro fight.
There are some things much more important then the punch for pay racket.
The growth of the human soul is a priceless adventure.
Best of luck Champ.

I'm a recovered alcoholic with more than two decades of sobriety behind me. Since Pavlik's situation became public I've seen more ignorant posts than I care to count. This post is both ludicrous, and disgustingly condescending.
