Post Comments Thread For: Photos: Miguel Acosta Sparring For Brandon Rios Bout

The lightweight champion, the World Boxing Association, the Venezuela Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta, met late Wednesday with a session of ten rounds of sparring as part of the reopening of the Gimnasio Mocho Navas in Petare, Venezuela. Acosta will make his first defense of the black and gold belt on February 26 in Las Vegas, when he takes on Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios.

I always thought Acosta was a more suitable and better opponent then Soto thats why im high on this fight. I think Acosta will give Rios trouble early on but Rios should run over him in the later rounds when the scorecards are close.

What do you mean by better or more suitable than Soto? I personally think Soto knocks Rios out in 10 or 11 rounds but I do think Acosta is gonna give Rios an even fight. If he goes to the body I think he'll pull out the decision, Rios is there to be hit, Acosta has pop n if he gets to the body Rios will break down late b4 he realizes wat went wrong, he's focused purely on offense n breaking you down. I think this is gonna be a great fight but I'll go with Rios but both guys are on a roll so who knows

I respectfully disagree, I think Acosta is a far better boxer then Soto and more then anything a harder puncher. Acosta has two top-notch wins on the elite level over Antillon KO 9 (Soto went the full distance) and Paulus Moses who was undefeated. Acosta is a very technical boxer/puncher with a strong right hand, where Soto tends to go wild from time to time. Not that it matters but Acosta is #1 on the RING lightweight rankings and Soto is #2. Acosta will use his superior boxing skills to keep Rios off of him, which will last up until Round 4 when Rios' will will just be too much for Acosta and from there on he will stop Acosta out on his feet in about Round 11.
