Promoter Frank Warren has revealed why the potential match-up between Ricky Hatton and Junior Witter never came to fruition. Warren appeared on Sky Sport's Ringside show, and when turning his attention to the Hatton-Witter rivalry, Warren had this to say. "Ricky Hatton, when I was promoting him, had it written into his contract that he'd fight him (Witter) but Junior had a really bad performance on the undercard of one of Ricky's fights, Sky and Showtime were broadcasting it. He fought a guy from Belgium and looked pretty bad in that fight. Vic Wakeling, who was Sky's head of boxing at the time, and Showtime said that they didn't want Junior as an opponent."

I dont know why people dont know about this. I remember that night. American TV were already turned off by Witter after the Zab performance. Witter bottled his chance as he usually tends to do.

Jesus Witter needs to retire, he wasnt great in his prime! Having said that a Hatton Vs Witter come back would still sell well in the UK imo.

i think Witter was one of those fighters that was just too awkward sometimes he looked great other times not so

i remember when he knocked out Vivian Harris (before everyone started doing it)

and everyone was very impressed and reckoned he get a big money fight and for whatever reason it never happened

but to say he blew his chances i don't think is 100%

he fought alot of good fighters aswell

i have no urge to see him fight again though i'll be honest

Yeah right, But Showtime and SKY wanted the bums/cab drivers from south america that Hatton was feed on by warren while defending the ever prestigious WBU belt, The same SKY that wanted the Hatton-Witter fight but bringing up Hatton's name at every Witter fight and vice-versa!!!

Only a fool would believe that ****t, Even if showtime doesnt want it the whole of the UK wanted the fight (Expect for some Hatton fans), Only a few didnt want the fight and those were the ones that thought Hatton would lose and miss out on his chance at the bigger names.

Don't listen to this frog faced cunt.Everybody who was following the sport at the time knows why Hatton didn't fight Witter.Hatton dodged him at domestic level,and when Witter finally stepped up to world level,Hatton avoided him there,too.



You will never find a more blatant duck than Hatton's ducking of Witter.

Worse boxing duck in recent history with dumb reasons too, Warren wants us to believe SKY and showtime doesnt want Hatton-Witter ( A domestic grudge fight) but they wanted Hatton-Rios-Ben tackie-Pedersen-Vilches- Michael "the joke" Stewart......... Not all boxing fans are stupid Fwank warren.
