Marquez has apparently priced himself out

Juan Manuel Marquez has apparently priced himself out of a fight with pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao, according to Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach. Marquez had requested a 50-50 purse split.

Roach said there was no way they would agree to that and went on to say in an article at malaya.com.ph, that “Marquez is in need to fight Manny yet he demands a purse split”.

Marquez didn't "request", he DEMANDED it.
And for those kneejerk fellas calling this another of Roach's lies...
WBC Prexy Sulaiman seems to have confirmed the 50-50 issue.

JMM has no fucking basis to be making such a demand.
Marquez KNEW it was going to be rejected.

Cheap way to get your name out, get a dig in at the guy who

Didn't richard schaefer already explain that top rank has to buy out Marquez in order for Golden Boy to make money and to step aside so top rank can handle all the promotion themselves? Thus the 5 million that Marquez is asking for is really like 2 since GBP has to get payed from Top Rank.

Marquez is not worth $5M, period. He made $1M vs Katsidis while Pacquiao made $20+M vs Margarito yet he wants a 50-50 split!?! More likely, GBP is pricing Marquez so high because their output deal with HBO expires in 2011 and if Marquez gets beaten by Pacquiao, they will have nothing to fill those HBO dates given to them.

They are pricing Marquez that high because top rank doesn't want to co promote with GBP. You think GBP is gonna just let Top Rank us Marquez for free?

Marquez is worth 5 million, he gave Pacquiao everything he can handle and more in the two fights they had, Just because he lost to Mayweather doesnt make his value go down, at least he stepped up to fight mayweather not like Ducquiao!! I dont think Ducquiao would do better than marquez against Mayweather!!
