Lets judge Mayweather Jr on his Amatuer Accomplishments for a change.
Here you have a 84-6 record. A 3 weight National Golden Glove Champion. At Light Flyweight, Flyweight, & Featherweight. Aswell as being United States Amateur Featherweight Champion. Making him number 1 at his weight class in the USA. Very impressive up to now. Do he didn't have the best of success at the 1995 World Championships in Berlin getting beat in the second round by a score of 8-6. Won the 1996 Olympic Box Offs. At the 1996 Olympic's, he won a bronze and caused a pretty big upset by defeating one of Cuban's greatest ever Amatuer's Lorenzo Aragon by one point. Just look how good of amatuer Aragon was........ http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Lorenzo_Aragon Floyd was beaten in the Semi Finals by Serafim Todorov. by just one point. Overall I'd say Floyd was quite the amatuer, espcailly in the USA & his win over Aragon was remarkable. But I don't think he quite what he hoped for on the international scene, and was quite way off other great USA amatuers like Breland, Whitaker, Leonard, Howard Davis, etc. |
