Politics is the same in every country. There will always be sycophants around telling you to enter politics even if all you did is to act in movies or become a beauty queen. (You have Sara Palin in the US, as an example. Hmm... or Caroline Kennedy, to be fair.) And I agree with you. Pac should have just let an engineer or a real estate developer to run his province and contributed his millions to its development. Celebrities don't have any business going into politics.

Pacquiao is an idealist...a rare breed thinking that GOVERNMENT or POLITICIANS can help the people (socialistic) but what is admirable is his intention to help out the poor people to whom he affectionately associate himself as "one of them".

And so yes, I concur...he could have developed some economic models/business that would employ the people while giving them a chance to work and work for themselves.

Not easy to develop a country that started haphazardly with a very short-sighted approach. Its colonial past may have been the culprit. I don't know. Unlike here in North America, most things are planned on a very looong term basis. Just wondering what exactly Pacquiao could do to a province which doesn't even have the infrastructure for any development possible. He can't go on giving away cash. Soon he has to find a way to give people jobs. Question is how. But that's another subject for a non-boxing forum.

now..WHY DIDN'T "CRUSADER" FLOYD ASK FOR OST FOR ALL YEAR ROUND IF HE REALLY WANTS TO CLEAN THE SPORT?... level playing field floyd says but is it really a level playing field if he is out of competition most of the time (assuming he uses peds like you assume pac on peds)..remember that pac has no problem being taken blood except closer to the fight bcoz for him it affects him physically and mentally (seconded by victor conte that not all athletes has the same effect mentally and physically).

the 1st article i mention might be the reason why floyd, his father, roger and jeff never refuted pac's 7 day cutoff because victor conte is agreeable to that compromise and they can't argue on that matter because they are the one's who asked conte for an adviced regarding roids/peds used.

I do agree in a certain level but it isn't just the colonialism but the inherent pluralistic and regionalism that pervades the Filipino-American culture. That is something way beyond the scope of this thread as you put it.

Remember that there are 7,500 islands in the Philippines whereas when Magellan claimed the islands to King Phillip II of Spain, he isn't aware of the vast diversity of tribes that belong to these indigenous islands. The cultures were that of the Indonesian/Malayan hybrids that still pervade the country despite the 400 years of Hispanization and Americanization.
