Does Joe Louis vs Billy Conn prove Ali destroys Louis?

To be honest Louis was a bit off form the night he met Conn too.

It must have been hard to get up for a light heavyweight when you re Joe Louis. Louis did have off nights (Galento, Schmelling, Farr & Walcott spring to mind).

Stylistically he did seem to struggle with movers which makes me lean to Ali in a matchup regardless. I just think Ali is a nasty matchup for Louis.

Ali got the jab, speed, reflexes, footwork to get in and out, move side to side quickly avoiding Louis big shots. Ali will get rounds in the bank. Then when Louis tires, he comes out swinging leaving him wide open then Ali scores multiple knockdowns on his way to a TKO victory.

Click onto the link in post 12. Everything you claim is easily refuted in that one article. None of us can say with absolute surety who would win, but the article makes some very strong and valid points.

Chuvalo has an iron chin, his success against Ali is down to great durability.

Ali was green against Cooper.

Doug Jones was a top contender, so what if Ali went 10 rounds with him while still not prime.

Shavers, Norton and Foreman were when Ali was past prime. Ali would not of used rope a dope if he was prime.

Ali wasnt ready for Frazier in 71 he needed more fights to shake of ring rust and get his stamina right. Frazier is an inside fighter which is not what Louis is.

Only an Islamaphobe would call the points made in the article strong and valid.

So refute them than with your vast knowledge, because what you have written down here means nothing.

His success was because of applied pressure and body work.

And was still a sucker for the left hook through out his career.

Doug Jones was never even close to being as good a fighter as Louis. I agree li wasn't at his best, but if a fighter like Jones could make it close with an inexperience Ali, it isn't far fetched to think Joe Louis could do the same or better against a prime Ali.

Ali only used the rope-a-dope against Foreman. And you have no idea how Ali would have fought Louis in his prime because Ali never faced a fighter any where near that good. The article tells us how and why Louis would fight Ali. Instead of just running off at the mouth, refute it.

Louis is one of the best body punchers of all time and had a complete arsenal to fight with, Frazier didn't.

His stamina was poor because Frazier was beating the hell out of him. Why wasn't his stamina a problem in the Bonavena fight? Did it suddenly regress for Frazier?

Show me one bit of proof that Ali's footwork wouldn't have deteriorated had he not ban banned? It is a FACT that ali had not been moving as much and sitting down on his punches more in his last 3 fights before being banned. If you don't believe this than go and WATCH the fights for proof.
