How many rounds does an elite MMA fighter last....against an elite boxer in a ring?

Fedor himself has claimed that Alex is much better than him when it comes to boxing.

a better mma fighter does not mean that theyre better with their hands, and Alex for a long time has been one of the most feared HWs around in terms of striking.

ehhhh.....but to go back to thread question.....if you're talking about pure cardio standpoint alone....an elite mma fighter would be able to last anywhere between 6-10 rounds in a boxing ring.

Cung Le was an undefeated light heavyweight world champion kickboxer. a k-1 championship fight was the equivalent of a 6rd boxing match. Factor in the tangible that they dont have to kick or defend kicks in a boxing match then from a pure cardio standpoint then they should be able to last a few rounds longer with no problem.

tell that to Ray Sefo, who got knocked out brutally in the first round by a nobody, and Mighty Mo, who got his jaw broken by a nobody. These guys are well known kickboxers. Not to mention the fact that Mark Hunt couldnt even get a win over any bums in boxing, and yet won a Gran Prix a year later.

If these guys are struggling so badly with bums(and make no mistake, theyre some of the best strikers in mma), I have a real hard time believing theyd last long against anyone in the top 10.
And thats not even taking into consideration guys who rely primarily on their grappling ability.

Well like i said...."from a pure cardio standpoint" Obviously their profession of choice is what it is for a reason. Michael Jordan became a basketball player as opposed to a baseball player for a reason. Because he's better at 1 than the other. But obviously athletic ability and work ethic go a long way.

Never did I say someone like Cung Le who almost exclusively relies on kicks could last a full 10 against a decent professional boxer. But make no mistake that some of these dudes are definitely in good enough shape to do so if they had to.

oh ok so youre saying that you would tell the mma guy "Go out there and survive as long as you can"?
well in that case ok they could probably last longer.

but if the guy was flat out actually trying in any way to win, he would get creamed pretty quick. defense has always been the hugest flaw in anyone trying to transition over to boxing.

no...I'm saying that elite mma fighters are in good enough shape to fight anywhere between 6-10 round boxing matches depending on the fighter. Whether or not they'd succeed based on skill is a whole different story.
