Haye forced out of Hobson fight through injury
By Clive Bernath: David Haye has been forced to pull out of his British and Commonwealth cruiserweight title clash with champion Mark Hobson at the Huddersfield Liesure Centre on July 22 after sustaining a hamstring injury in training.
The 24 year-old's trainer Adam Booth confirmed Haye's withdrawal through injury but hopes the big punching Londoner will be able to resume full training again within three weeks.
"David first picked up the hamstring injury a week ago," Booth told SecondsOut. "Then yesterday David was sparring with David Price in Liverpool and it went again. He could not move forward, backwards or sideways so we have no choice but to pull him out of the fight. This fight is far too important for David to go into less than one hundred percent fit.
"David will need at least two to three weeks to recover and be able to resume full training again. David is the mandatory for the British title and will be ready again within three weeks."
As of 12.15pn today (July 15) promoters Fight Academy were is discussions to find a replacement suitable to both the British Boxing Board of Control and broadcasters Sky Sports.
