What would happen to boxing if Dana White became a promoter?

    1st off...I am a fan of both...different flavor than boxing...but still combative.

Dana White has been pretty successful and so has MMA (UFC to be more specific) since Dana took the reigns....what if he decides to do both....take care of UFC and become a boxing promoter? Are there any rules against that decision? Would any boxing fans be put off by his decision? Would boxing lose fans/gain fans?

I for one say let him try it...he is good at giving the fans what they want....and if his fighters don't perform, he'll rip them a new one (Spider Silva).

    Thoughts?

He would do pretty bad in boxing, or at best as good as one of the best promoters in boxing. That's it.

The reason he's successfull in the UFC is because he can dictate everything. Totally different in boxing when you cant dictate ****.

Yeah I think this is a bit of an unfair comparison since Dana owns 80% of Mixed Martial Arts.

Dana does right by the fans. They get the fights that they actually want to see. UFC fans get more **** for thier buck than boxing fans currently do. This sport (boxing) is slowly turning into a male soap opera. Its sad!

          That's pretty much it.

In boxing you can't make other fighters fight your fighters.. he can in the UFC.. and he'll also tell them what theyre going to make.

I dont think Dana White will ever be a Boxing promoter. He has announced that Boxing will eventually go away, so I highly doubt hes ever going to be associated with boxing.

Dana is just a more media-savvy Bob Arum. He doesn't put fights together unless he controls both fighters. The whole mess between him and Fedor Emelianenko makes Bob and Floyd seem like lifelong soul mates.

And forget the whole "We'd get Pacquiao-Mayweather" if boxing was more like UFC. They can't even put together their own Pacquiao-Mayweather (GSP-Silva).

What is Dana...President of the UFC right....so I get what your saying about being able to dictate his own ****....

Who says you can't dictate your terms in boxing? Top Rank and GBP do it all the time...long as you play nice with the sanctioning bodies (pay them enough)....I don't see why not. Yeah?
