"EUBANK DUCKED TONEY" "TONEY WOULD OF BEAT EUBANK" comments from a BRIT! haha juyjuy

even the Brits r saying that eubanks ducked Toney, wot do u have 2 say about that juuujuy?

    Heres the link- http://www.britishboxing.net/?page=news&id=169

    Heres what it says-

    Chris Eubank vs. James Toney

During the early nineties, few fighters talked as much as Ann Arbor's James 'Lights Out' Toney. Everyone else in the division were bums according to him, he'd wipe the floor with any and all of them. For one reason or another, the focal point of Toney's abuse was often us Brits. And one in particular. The lisping, part-time philanthropist Chris Eubank.

Toney openly denounced Eubank as a chump, and actually went on Jonathan 'Wossy' Ross' show to tell the whole of the country! The brash American said he'd knock Eubank and Benn out in the same night. Some comments were actually made about one-arm being tied behind his back when he was doing so!

Either way, the boxing media ate it up, and we hoped that our Chris, who matched Toney for self-belief, would shut him up. Finally, we were rooting for 'Simply The Best', but for one reason or another, it didn't happen. I myself feel this was because Eubank ducked Toney. James was the IBF middleweight champion, a pound-for-pound star, and Eubank had opportunities to meet him at both 160 and 168, particularly around 1993.

If this fight had come off, it would have been a classic. Toney, the consummate counter-puncher with the powerful right hand, against the slick, defensive Eubank. If it's worth anything, I think Toney would have won, though it wouldn't have been as easy as he suggested. Chris was tricky and awkward - a tough opponent for anyone, on his day.

Had Eubank fought Toney on the night that Jones Jr fought Toney, Eubank would of won. Toney was having major weight problems, was severely weight-drained for Jones Jr. THAT Toney loses to Eubank every single time. Chris would move in and out of range, quick and accurate body shots, awkward counters to the head, frustrate the dehydrated Toney like he's never been frustrated..

(By the way, had Jones Jr fought Toney a year a two earlier than he did, I'm not sure if he'd of won. Infact I'm pretty sure he wouldn't of!)

I do agree with you here. That Toney was very beatable when he lost to Jones, but Toney had his best would of beaten Eubank & Jones.

You can just see Chris now, circling Toney with his beautiful balance and capitalising on any slight mistake Toney should make. Toney would of brought the best out of Eubank, and that spells trouble.

            hmm

Toney struggled with weight his whole career, before and after Roy, and WON many fights "struggling" with weight. In any case, Toney's style is ready-made for Roy, and Roy would beat Toney again again had they fought even when Toney wasn't having weight problems.

Toney also lost to Griffin twice, no one mentions weight problems in that fight...Toney had SERIOUS problems with slick boxers (Nunn, Griffin, etc.) and Roy would have beaten him every damn time.

            End of story.

Juy Juy you are lousy tool and I'm glad I have you on ignore.

Eubank's posture enforces my critiscisms of him as a fighter.

Ive never seen much of Eubank, just heard of what you talk about a **** load about him. So I would have no idea who would win between him and James.. although James is a great boxer

I have never seen Eubank fight, but I do have to admit, this guy sure does make Eubank sound like a great fighter. He said, Eubank had alot of skills and after he destroyed [some guy...I forgot his name] He would always fight on reserve, but if he needed to, he had the ability to unleash a vicious right hand what for the most part was an automatic fight ender..
I mean honestly, if he's like how you described him, that has to be pretty exciting to watch, knowing he's like a time bomb.
