You knew it was coming, right?
But I can't be cruel to Kostya, even though he retired (I don't like to say "quit" in his case, he's a honourable man).
So what's the word then? Can't wait to read all these threads about it, and look back at the Limey-bashing on the board.
Obviously Kostya was the more technically skilled boxer, and the stronger man - but we knew that anyway. So many people have ducked Hatton and pulled out we had no way of knowing whether he was genuinely world class until tonight. He might have been completely out of his depth.
That plan of attack - what a crazy plan! Go in there and just take bombs. Ricky's rarely a reserved kind of fighter anyway, but he was just totally, insanely reckless tonight.
I tell you what I did learn about Ricky that I wasn't sure about until now - he's got a chin, right?
Where now for the guy? And what is there to challenge him? When you've just made Kostya Tsyzu retire on his stool, who do you have to fear? And when you've taken Kostya bombs and stood up to them, whose firepower will you have to fear?
I can't wait for the trade magazines, The Ring and so on, to find out what's what.
