Happy Holidays miamike, - !! AI-Holmes!!
Default Could Mike Tyson have beaten George Foreman?

I know Tyson handlers kept him away from an old Foreman. Did they know something we didn't. Could Tyson have beaten a older Foreman? How about a young Foreman?

I think it would be a hell of a fight, but in the end I think Tyson had a better chin and better boxing skills all around. Tyson was also very fast. I think Tyson would stop Foreman in the first few rounds.

Tyson can definitly beat old George.

Even though Old George hit his chin prime, everything else was gone.

That being said, if Foreman hit his chin prime in the 70's, he might never have lost to Ali.

Which Tyson? The young one who did not know what it was to lose or the older one that had problems with really big guys?

His chin wouldn't of fixed his stamina problem, he'd of still got stopped by Ali.

Tyson beats an old George via a UD but a prime George is completely different. Prime v Pirme, George was too big, too strong and hit too hard. Tyson's chin and heart would not hold up. Foreman wins by KO 10

Foreman never had a problem with his chin and it wasn't his downfall against Ali either. Foreman's issue was related to pacing himself. He was exhausted when Ali dropped him.

There were NO managers or trainers who wanted their fighters in with Foreman and Tysons people were NO exceptions! George at ANY time of a fight could stop anyone! You could win ever round but there was a chance throughout the fight that he could END it! George opitomized the term "heavy handed" he could hurt anyone!
You saw what happened to Frazier and Tyson was a simular styled fighter in that he would try to come up and under George, that could be very very dangerous. There was nothing hidden that Cus would just as soon skip Big George as plenty of other top flight contenders did! I know fighters who fought him and were spar session mates and everyone talked about being "moved" by punches on the arms and shoulders and getting moved backwards from blocked punches!!!! The second best way to control an opponent is to keep him off balanced! Ali used movement and a jab, George used his power! Ray.

Percieved wisdom is that a young george is a bad match up for tyson. I tend to agree, though tyson is a different kettle of fish to frazier - he's got more power and is faster so I don't go along with the bounced around the ring school - it would be a fight imo and anything could happen. But for once I'd have to go against Mike and have george as the favourite in this one.

Old Foreman for sure

Holyfield gave him trouble with his combos and athleticism ... imagine Tyson

Young Foreman vs Prime Tyson would be epic
