Sauerland to have Olympic-style drug testing

German promoter Sauerland has extended their TV deal with German network ARD through 2015. As a condition to the extension, Saulerland will need to conduct Olympic style drug testing on its fighters under the supervision of the German National Anti-Doping Authority. In addition, this testing will be performed on opponents of Sauerland fighters. This, in turn, means that the fighters in the Super Six will be subjected to random drug testing, for instance, as both Arthur Abraham and Mikkel Kessler are with Sauerland. Already, the new policy has swept out one Sauerland opponent. Sebastian Sylvester was supposed to face Pablo Navascues a few weeks ago, but Navascues was knocked out of the fight when he flunked a random pre-fight drug test. It's a small step, but it's a positive first step in the right direction.

Very true a fighter got caught in January. But, was it by blood or urine test that he got busted from?

But, at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Boxing needs better testing period. Boxing is seriously moving slow in this matter.

All the real boxing fans need to just understand that if someone is arguing against more stringent drug testing in the sport than are not really a fan of the sport. Props to Floyd for exposing them.

yeah, it's true. my brother and dad (both *****s.. extreme *****s.. they think there's no one on earth that can beat mayweather, they always have an excuse as to why someone can't beat him) told me about this. problem here is not this perse but that fact that floyd has taken the initiative ONLY for this fight. su****iously he is doing this to a fighter that poses a real threat to him (not some blown up lightweight or cherry picked opponent for him) and coming from a guy who's a pro at ducking top competition. he didn't do it for the marquez fight (assuming he was coming with that mindset of cleaning up the sport after the break he took)... NOOOO.. out of his ass he wanted to clean the sport and by coincidence before the pacquiao fight.

it's just the shadiness of it all.

Its funny that threads like these that posts facts always gets ignored and threads about Ellerbe rubbing Mayweathers shoulders gets flooded with posts.

People act like what Mayweather requested is hurting the sport instead of helping it. If Manny had made these requests you would have heard how he is the savior of boxing.
