Deal reached for Yankee Stadium fight

NEW YORK (AP)—A deal has been completed to bring the first fight to Yankee Stadium in more than three decades.

Promoter Bob Arum told The Associated Press late Thursday that the WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman will fight former welterweight champion Miguel Cotto on June 5 at the ballpark in the Bronx.

The ring will be set up in right-center field with seating around the ring, in the right field bleachers and along the first base line. Arum expects 30,000-35,000 ringside seats will go for $400 with the least expensive tickets priced at $50.

Arum promoted the final bout at the old Yankee Stadium across 161st Street when Muhammad Ali fought Ken Norton on Sept. 28, 1976.

A lot of people **** on Arum. But, is great for boxing that he is the only promoter in the U.S that really tries to put boxing in stadiums. Is great for fans. And, you can fit more people in a stadium than a Casino. This is going to be a pretty good event. I already imagine how the atmosphere is going to be in Yankee stadium with Cotto and all the boricuas....

Who's the bigger draw, Pac or Cotto? we will find out since they're both trying to fill a stadium.

not that i mind seeing cotto in a stadium but this doesn't seem like the right fight for it. unless cotto has completely lost it he should beat the pants off foreman. hardly the sort of megafight you want in yankee stadium. i'm glad he isn't try to bounce back by fighting marg though. plaster or not marg is a bad style for cotto. i don't wanna see him get beaten like that again. he's only 29 so i'm looking forward to him getting back on track and eventually on top.

Against Bernarbe Concepcion or Elio Rojas would be a good doubleheader.
