This fight was very! close to happening, it even made the front cover of the british boxing news magazine that the fight was nearly on! but it just didnt happen, i think monzon beats conteh in a close back and fourth battle -
Conteh would have been to much for Monzon, Conteh fought his first 14 fights at heavyweight before dropping down to the light-heavy division, Monzon never ventured out of his comfort-zone of 160lbs, i see Conteh running away with a wide points victory or late TKOComment

Conteh had the power alright...Conteh was an excellent two-fisted box/puncher and would be far to much for Monzon... Monzon was often rocked and staggered in his title fights at middleweight and i could not see him stand up to the bombs of John Conteh.. you need to watch some John Conteh fights to see his power-punching..Originally posted by Joey Giardello View Post

I have seen most conteh fights he was my dad's favourite ever fighter! he was there the night conteh boxed finnigan, conteh was not a devasting puncher and didnt pack a big enough punch to put monzon away, were monzon stopped and knocked out alot of fighters who were known to have good chins! at that time! nino, emile griffiith, tom boggs, tony licata, jose napoles, all those fighters were known to have great beards monzon stopped them or knocked them out, so geting john conteh out of there is not out of the question it has been done before by a lesser fighter than monzon saad muhammedOriginally posted by sonnyboyx2 View PostComment
