2 women headlining major PPV card in July

We've seen a lot of people on these boards put down women's boxing. I've even said that I wouldn't pay for a woman's card. But this one looks like it would be worth it - 35 bucks for 5 fights, including Jorge Arce's first fight since the Fight of the Year candidate vs. Hussein Hussein...

I'm kind of surprised Showtime's putting this one out like this...but they are co-headlining Laila Ali with Tyson vs. McBride

I buy all the major ones anyway - is this the first women's main event to headline a PPV put out by Showtime or HBO? Who distributed the Ali-Frazier daughters fight?

    from *********:

    Rijker-Martin card loaded!
2 world title fights announced; Arce returns against longtime champ Pongsaklek; Viloria goes for first world title
WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam and WBC jr flyweight champion Eric Ortiz will both defend their world titles on the July 30 undercard of Christy Martin vs Lucia Rijker on July 30 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Pongsaklek (56-2, 31 KOs) will defend his WBC flyweight title against former two-time champion Jorge Arce (39-3-1, 29 KOs), while Ortiz (24-4-1, 16 KOs) will defend against NABF flyweight champ Brian Viloria (16-0, 10 KOs) who will slim down to 108lbs. for this fight. Also scheduled are popular super lightweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (18-0, 13 KOs), world-ranked super middleweight Kelly Pavlik (24-0, 21 KOs), U.S. Olympian Vanes Martirosyan (1-0, 1 KO), unbeaten super featherweight Mike Alvarado (9-0, 8 KOs) and unbeaten lightweight Victor Ortiz (7-0, 5 KOs), all against opponents to be named.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tickets for the event went on sale today. They are priced at $250, $150, $100 and $50. The pay-per-view telecast ($34.95) will feature five fights (Martin-Rijker, Wonjongkam-Arce, Ortiz-Viloria, Chavez Jr.-TBA and Pavlik-TBA).

it's worth it, martin/rijker is a true grudge match.... and even though rijker should kill her, she's been very inactive and martin may have a chance...

Yeah, or two other very attractive women going at it... mudwrestling, or in a pool, something where clothes come all the way off..

**** that, though, I'd rather see Tyson KO McBride.

I'll believe it when I see it.......Martin was lucky to beat the covergirl a while back. Rijker looks like she'd give Tyson a run for his money!
