  • Vitali KlitschkO

    1) Vitali KlitschkO is currently ranked as the #1 Heavyweight champion of the world.
    2) Vitali KlitschkO has 35 wins with 34 by a way of knock out
    3) Vitali KlitschkO never "REALLY" lost a fight (please lets not turn this one into a whole new discussion)
    4) Vitali KlitschkO has never been knocked down
    5) Reading all those other threads, majority believe that right now, there isn't a HW to beat him

Than how come he is NEVER considered to be the current best pound-for-pound heavyweight? On the other hand I've seen Toney's name being mentioned on number of "Today's Top 10 P4P" lists

    Your Thought... :-)

Sorry, but that's not accurate, and deserves to be pointed out.

Yes, Byrd was losing at the time of stoppage, but its no coincidence Vitali injured his shoulder fighting Byrd. He
sustained that injury swinging at, and missing Byrd (like Holyfield). However, despite being far ahead on the cards,
    he elected to stop fighting.

    That is a TKO loss.

Against Lewis, he did very well in the fight (especially early on), but the fight was stopped due to injuries sustained to Vitali's face. There were 5 separate cuts for a total of 60 - 80 stitches.

It was not incidental or coincidental that his face ended up looking like this. It was a direct result of Lennox Lewis’ punches.

He showed heart and fought well, but it was another LOSS.

Vitali Klitschko has two losses on his record, both real and legitimate.

To answer this question, he is not considered pound for pound because of his size AND the fact he hasn't beaten a world class fighter.
Lennox Lewis wasn't often mentioned in those lists either.

James Toney and Chris Byrd tend to get mentioned more in a pound for pound sense because they're naturally smaller men, who aren't natural Heavyweights. Toney especially because he's won titles at Middleweight and Cruiserweight.

Extremely large Heavyweights are the reason pound for pound
lists were created. Its not a slight against him in the least.

what the man means by never really lost is that due to a cut and a shoulder he has never been dominated or having to coem back and win, or had a descion favoring him. but ya he's got 2 loses on his record from things thats happened to everyone. i think what it should be is that he was never losing fights he lost that sounds better.

          Or how about this:

In both of his losses he was ahead on all of the judge's scorecards.

              A loss is a loss.

There are many instances of a fighter winning right up until they lose.

The Lewis fight is the worst fight to try and sugar coat as being up a point in a fight that only went 6 rounds isn't saying a lot. He was up 4 rounds to two, but his face was hamburger.

That was a TKO in the truest sense.

We must do just this Vdiary. I will be the first person to say, yes he is the best heavyweight on earth. And IMO is the real champion in the division. But for someone to say he does not have a "real loss" is wrong.

Jose Luis Castillo does not have a real loss. He was stopped by cuts, when he was basically ahead or even on the cards against his opponents.

Vitali QUIT the fight against Byrd. If you are saying that is not a loss, then you are wrong dude. When you forefit a fight, you give up. When you give up, you lose. Plain and Simple. Does not matter if he knocked Byrd down 10 times, he still quit. When he beats Byrd legitimately, which I feel he would, you could then say:

He avenged his losses. because IMO, Lennox Lewis never had any losses in his career. He was knocked out by fluke lucky punches 2 times, and he stopped the two perps who did just that.

                By "avenging" his losses.

                  he isnt considered a top 10 p4p

#1. He outweighs everyone so much, it's like a middleweight fighting a bantamweight literally
#2. Look at the heavyweight division...John Ruiz? Lamon Brewster?Chris Byrd? and look at the top contenders...Andrew Golota? as Ryan from the ring magazine said, top 10 what? top 10 nutcases?
James Toney is a former middleweight COME ON

Vitali is the best heavyweight right now but he aint like anythin special

Joe Louis, Ali, Marciano, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis, etc would all rip him up

I like Klitschko a lot, but he aint nothin special
