Because most people have no idea what they are talking about. He wasn't Archie Moore or anything, but speed generates power and Ali definitely had speed. Combine that with the way he overwhelmed you with punches and he could knock people out.

Actually he was 29-0 with 23 KO's before his exile.

After his first 2 fights after his exile(Quarry and Bonevena)he was 31-0 with 25 KO's.

Then after that his KO % kept dropping.In his last 20 fights from 1973 to 1981 he had only 5 KO's in 20 fights.
