Default Joe Louis vs Billy Conn II

Conn still seemed to have some pretty quick hands and feet despite a 4 year layoff.

Louis seems to knock Conn down with a jab in the 6th round.

Do you have, or is there any video of Conn at lightheavy or middlweight? Would love to see his fights with Lesnivich and Young Corbett III.

There's the fight against Melio Bettina, not sure about anything else but I imagine more exists.

Both fading fast as fighters.
Louis was pretty much done after the war, the 2nd Conn fight was a matter of who had slipped the most in 5 years.
He got caught by Maurello, won a VERY contraversial decision in the 1st Walcott fight and was out boxed in the 2nd before retrieving the fight with a nice knock out.

I wouldn't say he was done but he was not the Louis of old, certainly.

Louis still displays some handspeed against Conn, Mauriello and Walcott, which he no longer had by the time he fought Charles, Marciano and the fights he had in between.

Conn was close to shot but I'm impressed with the speed he had at that point, even though it was almost like watching the first fight in slow motion.

Here's the Mauriello fight:

Louis 46-48 = Ali 76-78 might be fairer.

How true is that.

Thanks for posting the Mauriello fight not seen that one in years, remember Louis getting caught early but didn't remember how vulnerable he looked pretty much the whole round. Still guess he could get caught even at his peak a la Galento.
Still think about my man Baksi, he would have definately been in there for a few rounds and Louis was catching.......

Conn 182 pounds, Louis 207 pounds.

The judges had it 5-1, 5-1 & 5-2 in Louis's favour.

Thank You very much. It's much appreciated.

Louis was 9 lbs heavier, and Conn 13 pounds heavier....If indeed he weighed in at 169lbs for the 1st fight, that has been reported.

Thanks again.
