that seems a little high... i think i could lose about 15 to 20 and fight at 130 135 does that sound reasonable?

Don't forget that a person who weighs in at 135 lbs at the weigh in usually comes in 5 or 10 pounds heavier on fight night.

Depends what shape you are in now. If you are 155lbs and ripped, you're not going to be able to lose much. If you've got a bunch of fat on you, you can lose more. Don't even worry about it though, just get in fighting shape and you will see what you are closest to when you are ready to fight.

In amateur boxing tournaments the weight classes closest to you would be 152, 141 or 132 if you really think you can make it that low.

Most of you guys are idiots, theres no 140, 147, 135 lb classes in am boxing, it's 125, 132, 141, 152 (my country uses kilos so those may be a little off)

But anyway, so your just under 5''6 and weigh 155? How much fat do you carry? I doubt you have a six pack at that height/weight.....Just start training hard at the boxing gym, eating healthy good foods, and see where you are at, fight at that weight for your first 2-3 fights, then when you can go to a tournament or something you can lose another few pounds to make a lower weight class

It's hard to tell without seeing you, but im guessing you will go down to about 135-142 lbs if you are training hard, so in the end your weight class will probably be 132.

i would go 141 as an amateur
and if you keep losin naturally without extreme dehydration
then maybe go lower, but like i said i would make 141 a starting goal

Just train, Then sign up at whatever weight you are and fight. If your worried about fighting guys stronger than you at the same weight, Just taylor your training appropriately. Also in the amateurs they try to match guys who are fighting for the first time, Then guys with less then 10 fights are usually matched up, But after that uou could fight guys with 100's of fights even if you have 15
