The Trinidad-Joppy bout could match or surpass the surprising performance of the Dec. 2 Trindad-Fernando Vargas bout, which generated 520,000 pay-per-view buys-the second-highest buy performance for a fight last year.

The 475,000 buys for Trinidad-Hopkins represent the highest figure this year for a pay-per-view bout, besting the 400,000 generated by the June 23 Oscar De La Hoya-Javier Castillejo junior middleweight championship fight. Direct-broadcast satellite providers DirecTV Inc. and Dish Network accounted for about 35 percent of Trinidad-Hopkins buys, Taffet said.

NEW YORK -- HBO Sports' May 14 Felix Trinidad-Winky Wright middleweight pay-per-view fight garnered an unexpectedly high 510,000 buys, setting the bar for PPV boxing events this year. The fight, in which the former junior middleweight champion Wright easily out pointed the favored Trinidad, drew 280,000 buys from cable homes and 230,000 from satellite subscribers, according to HBO senior vice president of sports operations Mark Taffet.

HBO revised its numbers to 470,000 PPV buys and over $23 million in revenue. The fight held at New York City's Madison Square Garden marked the return of Puerto Rican icon Felix 'Tito' Trinidad after a self-imposed two year hiatus. Trinidad decimated Mayorga on his way to an 8th round TKO victory.

Great numbers for Trinidad. Always in the 400-500 mark in PPV buys, does that make Trinidad the second biggest draw of his time behind De La Hoya?
