He's really dumb to have done this to himself. He was a much better fighter when he faced Tszyu than he was when he fought Pacquiao.

Stupid eating habits ruined him - since his great year in 2005, he's gone steadily downhill.

Skill wise Hatton was the same in 2009 as 2005, but his ability to take a punch has clearly diminished as years have gone by, which was one of his most important assets.

Crash diets cause one to lose not only fat but muscle, and so reduce strength. That's why doctors usually don't recommend them.
