Just How green was Bernard Hopkins when he met Roy jones?(Revisited)(no hate)

Early Boxing Memory: Winning Pennsylvania Junior Olympics when I was nine. Won a trophy which had to be two-feet tall! When I won that I was the baby in the gym. We had guys like Robert Hines. I got my butt kicked 95% of the time in the gym by guys who were bigger and older than me. But I was too advanced for my level. I beat a guy named ‘Bunchie’ Williams, a good, good amateur who went 12-1 as a pro but then I think drugs got him. I still see him all the time. He says, ‘You didn’t really beat me that night, you had the politics with you.’ But I knocked him down three times! There was no politics then. We joke. Good connection there. He says Roy Jones is afraid of me.
bernard hopkins had won a tournament at the age of 9, 9!!!
roy jones was 5 goin on 6 at that time, and jones had'nt had his first amatuer fight till 10
while hopkins had won a tournament at ****in 9 years of age, impressive by hopkins

    next.

Bernard had a 95-4 amateur record, but his amateur career was cut short by incarceration
Determined to not let this setback define him, Hopkins boxed while in prison, hoping to get his chance to turn his life around. That chance came in 1988, when Hopkins, 23, was released after 56 months.
with a record of 95-4 at the age of 17, it aint that bad, and it's not like he stopped training, or was lifting in prison like tyson, he was actually 'boxing' in prison and fighting rough, tough, dirty prison dudes

Hopkins who spent time in prison when he was younger, is never lost on the fact of how rough prison was. Because of his past, Hopkins utilizes it as motivation. "When I'm in the ring, I'm the 'hood. I'm the penitentiary,'' said Hopkins to the publication
if you have been following hopkins you know(if your not a dumbass) how he changed his style by the time he fought danny mitchell, and fought like teh hopkins of today, but with more activity and speed/power

another thing is hopkins has never beaten a great-GOAT fighter bigger than him/at that fighters weight class

Jermaine Taylor 6'1, hopkkins lost TWO fights against taylor
Clinton Mitchell, yea argue hopkins was green, did'nt know how to punch or know what a jab was blah blah but hopkins fought clinton at lightheavy and lost and mitchell is(according to boxing stats) 5'4....i dunno i never saw the fight but that seems very very very ****in hard to believe but anyway the point is hopkins lost this one, and it further proves my point that hopkins has not beat anyone bigger/good and at the persons weight class
Joe Calzaghe, now i know alot say hopkins won this, but honestly that's only if your biased as ****, hopkins did not win this fight and again proves my point that he cant beat a man that is comfortable in a weight class and is the size(or bigger) than him plus a good-great fighter, it may seem like im askin alot but nah it aint

now you can always pull Tarver out ya asses but that can be counter-argued, to put it simple, Antonio Tarver was weight drained, many believe that, tarver says so, why would'nt i believe, not like hopkins beat any other light heavy before right?

    and finally
Roy Jones Jr.he was prime nyggas, prime when he lost to roy jones, he had 20+ years of experience before meeting roy jones and he got beat one-handed, even furthering my point that he cant beat a great fighter in his repected weight class
that's my reason to believe bernard hopkins is slightly overrated, though great for the sport and ages at the speed of a snail

not a hate thread btw, just facts

        He wasn't green at all.

If he was he would have gotten his head torn off.

Green fighters don't go 12 rounds with a prime Roy Jones.

Hopkins was not 30% of what he is today when Roy got him.

He was green. He clearly changes his style in 1997 and starts entering his prime then. Watch his fights and you are able to tell....

When Hopkins tries to bully Jones in the clinch, he clearly has no idea what to do. Qute different from Prime Bernard...

why? because he did'nt run out of stamina after 6 rounds and therefore did'nt have to resort to throwing one punch a round and clinching? is that what you think makes him better now than what he was?

                  Hopkins was not green dude.

A green fighter would have gotten seriously hurt.

Hopkins was slick and cagey as a mofo.

Just because he was green doesn't mean he wasn't a good fighter....he was just green compared to his prime.
