  • Will Floyd get any bonus points for the weight disadvantage of Shane and Cotto?

If he shows back up at his usual fighting weight by Fight-Time, he'll be under 150 pounds. Cotto and Shane will blow up in weight by 10+ by fight-time. Of course, we call this a "WW" bout but it really isn't by the start of the fight.

If he fights them, will this go unnoticed by most like it usual does or will this topic be brought up and be given respect for the weight difference?

If not, maybe Floyd could hire Freddie Roach to negotiate for him so that he can get them to come down in weight so they can be drained by fight-time.

Point: If we had same day weigh-ins, where would these fighters be fighting?

Cotto and Shane would probably be MW/160. Pac would be a WW and most of the rest of the JrWW would be WW-JrMW.

    Floyd would be WW
    Manny would be WW
    Hatton would be WW
    Cotto MW
    Mosley MW
    Williams MW

Basically every fighter would be in the next higher division some 2 divisions for the little guys right from 107 to 175 , the weigh-in 30hrs prior is very manipulative by good trainers , it was implemented originally for safety reasons as fighters were fighting dehydrated so they thought we will give them more time to hydrate but with todays science and cunning match making its a very shady area of the fight game when you can do things like pull a litre of blood out before a weigh-in and lose 4lbs and put it back with no harmful effect , or alter the sodium levels for a few days prior to lose retained fluids , Laxatives , diuretics , salt intake , blood doping , all make the weigh-in false weight , when the real weight a fighter is after everything is put back in his system at fight time .

But at least as boxing fans be aware of this weigh-in and fight weight differences , its ignored and downplayed all to much ,,,,,, its only recently its started to be shown by HBO during telecasts what the fighters are stepping in at ,, anybody in the game will know this but the man in the street has no idea thats why promoters pumping up a prospect will find a name fighter from a smaller division and use him to build up the prospect , I hate seeing it and it happens all the time where one guy is big and lean and the old name is small and fat .

Yes; blood doping is illegal. I'm not exactly sure what Rod is saying but I'm guessing he means you can drain a litre of blood out of your system and then put it back in after the weigh-in which basically isn't "Cheating" because you are just putting back in what you took out. However, blood doping would be extra blood that carries red-blood cells into your system to boost your endurace.

Eh...not sure. I never heard of taking out blood for the weigh-in. That sounds a little extreme. I wonder where he heard it from.

No, on Boxingscene, Floyd could fight Kelly Pavlik and it would be recieve a negative spin, not in floyds favor either. Floyd whole career is based off fighting dudes that weight more than him on fightnight. Its been that way since he jumped to 135 and poster act as if WW is Floyd 1st division as oppose to his 4th. Floyd could bet all the WW division and still would get it from detractors so...Nope. An undefeated PBF throws off the peaceful harmony and social balance that many have created, in their minds, similiar to what Jack Johnson did. If he were humble, like many posters believe he should be, his name would be Shane Mosley. How many posters truly give a damn about Shane Mosley on this site? A small minority. They want him to lose.
