My thoughts and prediction on Hatton Vs Pac

There has been a lot said over the last few months about this fight, some good, some ****** and some downright disrespectful, First thing I will say is that this fight will be very, very close.

    Thoughts on Hatton

Hatton will have the edge in Size, strength and (in my opinion) Footwork, he also should have the heavier shots and probably squeaks work rate if he controls the pace of the fight. No one has even been able to push Hatton back or stop him getting to them, I see no reason why Pac will be able to do so either or indeed he may not even try.

The improvements in Hatton where there for all to see in his last fight, both in terms of Stamina and not smothering his shots as much, the work behind the jab and head movement. If the improvement continues there is no reason he can’t continue for 3-4 more years at the highest level should he want too.

    Thoughts on Pacman.

Pacman will have the edge in Hand speed, boxing ability, and combinations. P4P he’s a mile better than Hatton but coming up two weight divisions makes this fight intriguing, Pac has a great resume but off his three opponents who are natural Super feathers or higher, Velazquez, Diaz are not world class much less Elite and Oscar was shot.

The improvement in Pac over the last few years has been remarkable and he’s rightly acclaimed at the best fighter in the world, the most exciting and of the Elite fighters the most likely to be able to raise the bar again.

The key factors in the fight.

    1. Who will control the fight, can Hatton use his footwork and pressure to make Pac fight his fight or Will Pac be able to land the flurry’s that will stop Hatton imposing himself. I will be interested to see if Pac tries to fight inside or resort to Malinaggi’s tactics of holding on to negate Hatton’s inside fighting.

    2. Can Pac cope with the higher weight, will his shot be able to hold off Hatton and can his chin stand up to the higher weight power. If Hatton starts walking through Pac’s punches he’s in for a long night.

    3. The southpaw advantage, Hatton has always struggled against Southpaws and unless Floyd Snr has come up with the answer Hatton would be left chasing shadows, was it a Hatton weakness or a Coaching weakness.

    4. The battle of the coaches, who can adapt, who can say the one thing that can turn the fight, they have the reputation of being the best coaches in the business, their fighter may well need it.

    My prediction.

I think Pac’s power and chin can make the step up, I don’t think he will be able to fight on the front foot and Hatton will be able to win rounds because of that, but I think Roach will be able to adapt Pac’s figth to counter this and he’ll pull out a close UD, one punch or mistake by either fighter could change this fight.

    Pac Close UD. 1-2 rounds.

    The fallout

Pac UD - Pac greats huge Credit
Hatton UD - Hatton gets credit but not huge, expect every excuse in the book to take that credit from him.
Pac KO - Pac gets mental credit and is better than SRR, Ali you name it. Best result for Pac legacy.
Hatton KO - almost no credit for Hatton, in terms of legacy it’s the worst result for him.
SD Either way - Both Fighters get massive credit, best result for Hatton Legacy.

Pac to win by KO within 5 rounds. Nothing more than an expensive tune up he should have been fighting JMM a 3rd time.

What makes you think a Hatton win by KO would be the worst result for him?

And why would a SD be the best result for Hatton's legacy. If it's SD, it will be controversial as, if he knocks out the pund for pound number 1 king then surely he couldn't really ask for much more could he.

Yea, especially since noone has KO'd Manny in a loooong time. A KO win, IMO, would quite clearly show that Hatton is nigh on unbeatable at 140 and maybe even one of the best to ever grace the division.

Because if he wins by KO expect him to get Zero credit for it. Look at the credit he gets for the Castillio win for evidence.

A SD win means that no one can say Pac wasn't able to cope with the weight or wasn't up for the figth/shot/unfocused ect. Trust me the only way Hatton comes out with real credit for a win is a Close SD.
