  • JMM vs Campbell, anyone?

I say let's see it. They're moving up to 140, at more or less the same age, being former decorated 135 champs, having fought both Diaz and Casamayor. What's not to love? JMM can go backwards and potshot him all night long.

Count me in as one of the "anyone's." I think JMM takes it, but if Campbell lands like Diaz did, JMM is going to be hitting the canvas.

There is no way JMM would allow himself to be rough-housed like Diaz was. The latter had totally the wrong gameplan when facing Campbell, but a pretty good one against JMM (the cut and his conditioning really made the difference IMO).

The only way I see Campbell giving him trouble would be to **** on him in the corner, which seems to be one of JMM's bad strategies. If he kept it in a nice circle inside the ring, whilst avoiding the ropes and corner, he should get a UD.

Marquez is a tiny bit overrated by some, i actually thought diaz had a great chance to win that fight, marquez has a suspect defense these days, he was fortunate casamayor was old and kept lunging in allowing himself to be countered or he would have lost that fight. Marquez was getting hit with basic jabs, getting smothered, caught with the same left hook time after time. What won that fight for him was the body shots he got in on diaz, that meant diaz gassed a little, couldnt close in as much and gave marquez space to time uppercuts and hooks, as soon as diaz smothered him again marquez was losing the plot.

He's not the same for me at 135, as he was before, I reckon he's lost a little something, but im not sure there is anyone at 135 who can expose his flaws. But Ive seen a few things recently which make me think his time is coming.

Yeah, that wasn't a brilliant showing from JMM. It's the sloppy, backfooted defence he put up which really made him look old at times (even though I still got the counterpunching heaven I wanted). It worked twice against Pac, but Diaz had a good gameplan for it.

Actually, am I the only one who had it a shutout for Diaz before that 9th round? :conf4:

Nah, i think i had it about 4-4 or 5-3 or to diaz, not sure.

Even against casamayor marquez got outboxed and kept getting hit with casamayors left hand, then casamayor did the dummest thing ever and tried to stalk him down, ended up lunging in and getting caught. No way marquez wins against a prime casamayor imo.

If Marquez fights hatton or pac, he would probably lose those fights descively, i know people would like to fantasize about marquez potshotting hatton, but i reckon he would get swarmed and punished.

            He's lost something.

Then again, he's still better than anyone I can think of at 135, including Guzman.

And Campbell would give him problems if those two fought as well.

Tough to call...JMM being superior boxer/counter, Campbell being more aggressive, active. JMM is also slow starter in trouble in most his fights. Nate has the better chin not being hurt by Diaz like JMM was. Both hungry and want Pac/Hat
