Default Pros Pick: Jackson vs. Jardine

Pros Pick: Jackson vs. Jardine

Quote:
The UFC returns to Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday with an intriguing bout between former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and dangerous contender Keith “The Dean of Mean” Jardine.

Sherdog.com contacted dozens of professional fighters and trainers for their opinions on the UFC 96 main event. Some were reluctant to give a prediction, but plenty were willing to lay their reputations on the line and try to forecast what will transpire in the Octagon.

Juanito Ibarra: Come on, son! I’ve always said that Jardine is made for Rampage and I believe that Rampage will take him out with uppercuts. Either an uppercut or knees.

Zac George: Jardine out-uglies him in the staredown, getting the early lead. But Rampage catches him off a kick for the TKO late one/early two.

Elvis Sinosic: This is a tough match to call. Keith has a very unorthodox counter style. He can catch you off on any given day. He also has some inconsistent matches. He can win or lose to the top guys, and it is hard to predict. Rampage has a more consistent style. He has had some ups and downs but has come back looking focused and committed. Both have shown the ability to go the distance in matches, and this being a three rounder, I don’t think cardio will be an issue. Both guys hit hard, though I think Rampage hits harder. Rampage's form is much tighter. Rampage has shown a weakness against leg kicks and Keith has shown good skill with them. If Keith stays on the outside and comes in with the right game plan, he can win this. Keith can spoil anyone’s plans, as he has proven over and over again. If Rampage allows this to go the distance, I can see Keith winning a decision. My prediction, though, is Rampage by KO/TKO in the second or third round as he pushes forward and forces Keith to make a mistake and catches him for it. PS: Bring Elvis back to the UFC.

Eddy Millis: Rampage is back! I believe he will KO Jardine the same way he did (Wanderlei) Silva: left hook, round one.

Ron Frazier: Rampage by KO in round two.

Johny Hendricks: With Rampage, he can always end the fight on the feet, and I think he will end it in the second round. But (with) Keith, you never know where his punches are coming from. I always have to wait for the replay to see what he threw, and that will be very dangerous for Jackson.

John Hackleman: I feel this will be a war between two hardcore junkyard dogs. I think they are going to slug it out. I think there will be some powerful slams and some fence-to-fence punching and kicking. But I feel that Rampage is just a little bit quicker, a little more powerful, a little more explosive and I feel like he will win a hard-fought decision. If a left hook or powerful right hook finds its mark, it will be a knockout. That’s my prediction and don’t misquote me or make me sound stupid. Oh, and “The Pit” is spelled with one T.

Cub Swanson: I like Rampage, but I’m gonna say Jardine by a ton of leg kicks.

Travis Lutter: Great fight with Rampage, I think, winning. Can’t wait to watch it.

Gabe Ruediger: Is there really another PPV? Quinton has shown a greater depth in skill and his KOs of Wanderlei and Chuck prove his power. I’ve got to go with Quinton, although Jardine is very tough and skilled.

Kit Cope: Jackson versus Jardine is a battle of complete opposites. It's gonna look like if a werewolf and (someone with) Tourette syndrome had a tussle. The world should have learned by now not to bet against The Dean of Mean. Also, Rampage doesn't do well against muay Thai technique, which Jardine employs. Couple that with a style that's so herky-jerky and epileptic that it's hard to get a bead on it. After three very entertaining rounds, this one ends with Jardine's hand raised for a decision win.

Nick Thompson: Rampage via hit and run.

Scott Bieri: It may not be pretty, but I’m going with Keith “Techno Viking” Jardine. The Mean One will stay out of Page’s power while peppering the former champ low and high en route to a decision.

Duke Roufus: Rampage wins this one, (but) not without a tough effort from Keith.

Erik Paulson: I have had Rampage in at my gym in the past month helping Josh Barnett get ready, and all I have to say is that if Quinton is on like he was on with Josh, then I believe that Keith won’t have a chance with him. Plus he’s super funny.

Cung Le: Rampage by TKO.

Dewey Cooper: Anytime you have a main event fight on a UFC card, you normally think of a competitive fight. I view this fight as a no brainer. Rampage by KO in the first or second. Jardine has wins over Chuck Liddell and a KO win over Forrest Griffin, but I see a reenactment of Jardine versus (Wanderlei) Silva. Lights, camera, action: win by KO, Rampage Jackson.

Jess Liaudin: Keith showed that he can hang with a good striker like Chuck and Forrest or even Brandon Vera. He’s got an unorthodox style, which makes him hard to predict and he can surprise you with it. And on top of that, he’s got some very mean kicks. Rampage has got more of a conventional striking style but with a lot of power. I won’t be surprised if Jardine learned from the Forrest vs. Jackson fight and uses a lot of low kicks to give Rampage a hard time and then follow with punches. I am gonna go with Quinton, though. He is a very good counter striker, and if you go at him with wild shots, he will cover up well and hit you with that big left hook and he usually doesn’t need to throw another one if he connects. Regardless of the outcome, it’s gonna be a great fight.

Tom Gavrilos: Rampage needs to look out for leg kicks. After watching tape of the fight against Forrest, Jardine may try and exploit his leg kick defense. And that’s dangerous because Jardine kicks like a mule! Rampage's boxing has improved leaps and bounds since his PrideFC days, and he was a major factor then. He is a BEAST now. Rampage stops Jardine in this fight. Better wrestling, superior power and more technical boxing will prevail. This fight has major implications for the title run, so both guys should be bringing their A game and I, for one, am very much looking forward to it. Also I would like to clear up for the record that it is NOT Rampage on the MMA Warehouse logo. And that info is right from the owner's mouth!

Stav Economou: Rampage all the way: KO second round. Quinton is going into this fight with huge momentum after KO'ing Wanderlei. He is just too strong and too technical for Jardine to handle.

Ray Sefo: I would have to agree with Tom and Stav and also think that Quinton is going to be too strong for Jardine. Remember Quinton is also coming off a big win over Wanderlei Silva; that also makes him even more dangerous. I was out with him about two months ago, and he's in a good place right now and is really wanting to get that title back. I'm pretty sure he's going to be training his ass off. Of course Quinton is a friend, so I'm rooting for him to win this one and move on to fight for the title again. May the best man win. Good luck to the both of them! God bless!

Erin Toughill: First, Rampage is a friend and I really like him, so I definitely want him to win. With that being said, in my opinion, as long as Rampage's confidence is at 110 percent, he can’t be beat. I think Rampage has everything to be the champion. As long as he's mentally, spiritually and physically strong, no one can beat him. Rampage can take a punch and can definitely recover from being hit. Jardine's chin, on the other hand, is suspect. He’s been KOed by punches a few times, but also has the ability to KO people with punches and kicks. Keith doesn’t do well against aggressive strikers, so advantage for Quinton. Both are dangerous in the pocket, with Quinton more so. Rampage has better boxing, so he needs to use that (along with movement and countering) against Jardine. Jardine doesn’t have the same movement, but Rampage better block Jardine's kicks. I don’t see this fight being on the ground much, but both are good with ground-and-pound. At any rate, I think Rampage wins this if he plays it smart, doesn’t underestimate Jardine and uses effective/aggressive countering. Rampage wins by KO in second round.

Thomas Denny: I like Jardine a lot. (He’s) a cool guy, but I will go with Rampage by a “hit you so hard your momma will feel it” punch.

Brad Pickett: It has to be Rampage for me by KO/TKO, as I just think he is the badder man.

Stephane Vigneault: I think Rampage will KO Jardine, but Jardine surprised … with his performances against Chuck and Forrest. You never know what he can do. Jardine’s standup is very unorthodox, but we saw that work against Chuck and Forrest. But this time I think the power of Rampage will be too much.

Patrick Cote: I’m going with Quinton, but it will be hard, I think. Jardine is so unorthodox and tough with heavy leg kicks, but I can see Jackson knocking him out in the second round.

Robin Black: When Rampage lost to Forrest, it was the leg kicks that really made the difference. Old Dean-Mean has NASTY leg kicks, and you know that Greg Jackson will be brewing a game plan that uses them. But if my small brain can predict that, you know Rampage's team of big brains is preparing for that. So, it'll be Rampage's huge knockout fists versus Jardine's scrappy standup and awesome beard. I call Rampage winning a very explosive Fight of the Night.

Jardine's legkicks can cause a major upset, I kno Rampage likes staying in the pocket but Jardine falls easy to those who swarm him

Jardine will get tagged and KO'ed IMO. He has a habit of getting overanxious and stepping in which is a big no no against Rampage who can end it with either hand.

Cool 06

Bump up then lurkCHAPTER VI Having thanked Anna Pavlovna for her charming soiree, the guests began to take their leave. Pierre was ungainly. Stout, about the average height, broad, with huge red hands; he did not know, as the saying is, to enter a drawing room and still less how to leave one; that is, how to say something particularly agreeable before going away. Besides this he was absent-minded. When he rose to go, he took up instead of his own, the general's three-cornered hat, and held it, pulling at the plume, till the general asked him to restore it. All his absent-mindedness and inability to enter a room and converse in it was, however, redeemed by his kindly, simple, and modest expression. Anna Pavlovna turned toward him and, with a Christian mildness that expressed forgiveness of his indiscretion, nodded and said: "I hope to see you again, but I also hope you will change your opinions, my dear Monsieur Pierre." When she said this, he did not reply and only bowed, but again everybody saw his smile, which said nothing, unless perhaps, "Opinions are opinions, but you see what a capital, good-natured fellow I am." And everyone, including Anna Pavlovna, felt this. Prince Andrew had gone out into the hall, and, turning his shoulders to the footman who was helping him on with his cloak, listened indifferently to his wife's chatter with Prince Hippolyte who had also come into the hall. Prince Hippolyte stood close to the pretty, pregnant princess, and stared fixedly at her through his eyeglass. "Go in, Annette, or you will catch cold," said the little princess, taking leave of Anna Pavlovna. "It is settled," she added in a low voice. Anna Pavlovna had already managed to speak to Lise about the match she contemplated between Anatole and the little princess' sister-in-law. "I rely on you, my dear," said Anna Pavlovna, also in a low tone. "Write to her and let me know how her father looks at the matter. Au revoir!"- and she left the hall. Prince Hippolyte approached the little princess and, bending his face close to her, began to whisper something. Two footmen, the princess' and his own, stood holding a shawl and a cloak, waiting for the conversation to finish. They listened to the French sentences which to them were meaningless, with an air of understanding but not wishing to appear to do so. The princess as usual spoke smilingly and listened with a laugh. "I am very glad I did not go to the ambassador's," said Prince Hippolyte "-so dull-. It has been a delightful evening, has it not? Delightful!" "They say the ball will be very good," replied the princess, drawing up her downy little lip. "All the pretty women in society will be there." "Not all, for you will not be there; not all," said Prince Hippolyte smiling joyfully; and snatching the shawl from the footman, whom he even pushed aside, he began wrapping it round the princess. Either from awkwardness or intentionally (no one could have said which) after the shawl had been adjusted he kept his arm around her for a long time, as though embracing her. Still smiling, she gracefully moved away, turning and glancing at her husband. Prince Andrew's eyes were closed, so weary and sleepy did he seem. "Are you ready?" he asked his wife, looking past her. Prince Hippolyte hurriedly put on his cloak, which in the latest fashion reached to his very heels, and, stumbling in it, ran out into the porch following the princess, whom a footman was helping into the carriage. "Princesse, au revoir," cried he, stumbling with his tongue as well as with his feet. The princess, picking up her dress, was taking her seat in the dark carriage, her husband was adjusting his saber; Prince Hippolyte, under pretense of helping, was in everyone's way. "Allow me, sir," said Prince Andrew in Russian in a cold, disagreeable tone to Prince Hippolyte who was blocking his path. "I am expecting you, Pierre," said the same voice, but gently and affectionately. The postilion started, the carriage wheels rattled. Prince Hippolyte laughed spasmodically as he stood in the porch waiting for the vicomte whom he had promised to take home. "Well, mon cher," said the vicomte, having seated himself beside Hippolyte in the carriage, "your little princess is very nice, very nice indeed, quite French," and he kissed the tips of his fingers. Hippolyte burst out laughing. "Do you know, you are a terrible chap for all your innocent airs," continued the vicomte. "I pity the poor husband, that little officer who gives himself the airs of a monarch." Hippolyte spluttered again, and amid his laughter said, "And you were saying that the Russian ladies are not equal to the French? One has to know how to deal with them." Pierre reaching the house first went into Prince Andrew's study like one quite at home, and from habit immediately lay down on the sofa, took from the shelf the first book that came to his hand (it was Caesar's Commentaries), and resting on his elbow, began reading it in the middle. "What have you done to Mlle Scherer? She will be quite ill now," said Prince Andrew, as he entered the study, rubbing his small white hands. Pierre turned his whole body, making the sofa creak. He lifted his eager face to Prince Andrew, smiled, and waved his hand. "That abbe is very interesting but he does not see the thing in the right light.... In my opinion perpetual peace is possible but- I do not know how to express it... not by a balance of political power...." It was evident that Prince Andrew was not interested in such abstract conversation. "One can't everywhere say all one thinks, mon cher. Well, have you at last decided on anything? Are you going to be a guardsman or a diplomatist?" asked Prince Andrew after a momentary silence. Pierre sat up on the sofa, with his legs tucked under him. "Really, I don't yet know. I don't like either the one or the other." "But you must decide on something! Your father expects it." Pierre at the age of ten had been sent abroad with an abbe as tutor, and had remained away till he was twenty. When he returned to Moscow his father dismissed the abbe and said to the young man, "Now go to Petersburg, look round, and choose your profession. I will agree to anything. Here is a letter to Prince Vasili, and here is money. Write to me all about it, and I will help you in everything." Pierre had already been choosing a career for three months, and had not decided on anything. It was about this choice that Prince Andrew was speaking. Pierre rubbed his forehead. "But he must be a Freemason," said he, referring to the abbe whom he had met that evening. "That is all nonsense." Prince Andrew again interrupted him, "let us talk business. Have you been to the Horse Guards?" "No, I have not; but this is what I have been thinking and wanted to tell you. There is a war now against Napoleon. If it were a war for freedom I could understand it and should be the first to enter the army; but to help England and Austria against the greatest man in the world is not right." Prince Andrew only shrugged his shoulders at Pierre's childish words. He put on the air of one who finds it impossible to reply to such nonsense, but it would in fact have been difficult to give any other answer than the one Prince Andrew gave to this naive question. "If no one fought except on his own conviction, there would be no wars," he said. "And that would be splendid," said Pierre. Prince Andrew smiled ironically. "Very likely it would be splendid, but it will never come about..." "Well, why are you going to the war?" asked Pierre. "What for? I don't know. I must. Besides that I am going..." He paused. "I am going because the life I am leading here does not suit me!" 2009Wow leveling, wow power leveling, Cheap WoW Power Leveling Store, we professionally focused on providing World of warcraft Power Leveling service and offers 24/7 non-stop power leveling and wow gold service.
