This isn't partisan talk here. It breaks down to possibly putting ourselves in a position to not be able to pay our debts back. You realize every dollar we are borrowing has interest attatched to it?

You're probably the type of guy who thinks it's okay to run up thousands of dollars of debt on a credit card and then declare bankruptcy.

I know it's risky and everyone knows it's risky. So risky a thread isn't even needed to know how everyone is feeling.

Bill Clinton would've never done anything like this. He didn't see the rich as a giant cookie jar from which to take and take from.

Clinton>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Obama.
Lets see what Bill Clinton has to say about that:

Bill Clinton predicts economic rebound in 1 year

February 18, 2009 - 6:38pm

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton told legislators in his home state of Arkansas on Wednesday that he'd be shocked if it took more than two years for the nation's economy to rebound, and said he supports President Barack Obama's $787 billion stimulus package.

"My best guess is we'll be able to turn back up somewhere between 12 and 15 months, and I would be shocked if it takes more than two years. But I'll be surprised if it takes only six months," Clinton said in his first speech to the Arkansas General Assembly since the end of his presidency in 2001.

Clinton, who was governor of the state for 12 years before winning the presidency, told lawmakers in the state House chamber that he strongly supported Obama's stimulus bill, but said it was not the only answer to the nation's economic woes.

"It is a bridge over troubled waters," he said. "Because this is a private economy, and we have to get the private banking system working again."

Legislative leaders said they invited Clinton to speak to the Legislature because the former president was already scheduled to be in town. Gov. Mike Beebe, who was serving in the state Senate was Clinton was still governor, also attended the speech.

Clinton's presidential library is in Little Rock, and he has remained a major figure in his home state. The state's Democratic voters overwhelmingly voted for his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in last year's Democratic presidential primary. She now serves as Obama's secretary of state.

I believe Obama has explained himself on this and even went around the country for town hall meetings selling the Package.

Republicans like to say it's a spending bill and Obama countered saying of course it's a spending bill but one that will stimulate the economy.

How laughable it is, that now that there is a democrat as president, the republican congressmen want to talk about fiscal responsibility??

They oversaw the biggest expansion in government debt in history, and didn't say a single word. Now Obama talks about implementing healthcare reform, and rebuilding the country's infrastructure...and they remebered their "conservative principles".

In previous years under the former spender in chief, the costs associated with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and related things were NOT presented in the budget, and thus, their "projected deficits" were always, purposely underestimated.

Uninformed unthinking people think Republicans are the party of "fiscal responsibility" because Republicans refer to themselves as "conservative," appropriating for themselves that adjective's meaning of: wise and cautious.

Republicans have been more devoted to making the government unworkable by building up huge deficits than to being fiscally prudent.

The best examination of this I've read is Thomas Frank's "The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule", the educated & prudently wise has known this forever.

And, since this has been going on forever, it's really frustrating that people are still fooled by the fact that the Republican's refer to themselves as conservative.

The word is meaningless when applied to their policies, amounting to nothing more than a misleading advertising label.

If their spiritual leader Rush Limbaugh took a dump in a china plate and told them it was chocolate cake, guess what? they'd eat it up and lick the plate. Seriously, that's how smart they are.

I'll take my chances with Obama. Those who automatically like to say that his Stimulus spending package will not work are full of it. That remains to be determined.

Also if I read correctly, his team has a made a pledge to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. How is he gonna do it?? I don't know but if he doesn't come close to it, then hold it againt him. UNTIL THEN. But imo, It aint all about the deficit. People needed help and just freezing spending wasn't gonna cut it. If you wanted to freeze spending, the spender in chief Bush should've done it years ago, starting with ending the war in Iraq.

We were all warned about this clown. The election was between a democrat and a socialist and the socialist won.

Who's the democrat if Obama is the socialist??? Hillary?

Because if that's so, she too would be for the stimulus package, as are the rest of the big players on the democratic side.

McCain was a old war hawk and would've continued to spend millions in Iraq if he had it his way. Of course the countless spending on Iraq doesn't count in the budget.

But Obama has changed all that.

Spending money on this countries infastructure, healthcare reform, education and energy is spending according to McCain and the Republicans BUT spending money rebuilding another country (Iraq) according to them is PATRIOTIC.

Go figure.

So far Obama is spending 32 Billion a day. That's just stimulus. Not to mention the stimulus is more than the Iraq and Afghanistan wars put together.
