  • Lopez: Peñalosa Wont Last 6 Rounds!

The list is reduced to 4 rivals

The Philippine Gerry Peñalosa, champion of the 118 pounds of the OMB and that it looks for to invade the 122 pounds, is requesting 2 much money to face lopez
The listing of rival potentials it second titular defense of Juanma Lopez has been reduced to the Thailanders Sod Looknongyangtoy and Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, the Argentinean Sergio Medina and the Canadian Olivier Lontchi.
While, for economic reasons, it was discarded the Philippine Gerry Peñalosa, of 36 years and champion of the 118 pounds of the OMB, that has plans to resign to that sceptre to invade the 122 pounds.

“The fight with Peñalosa interests to us, but for the 6 of December it seems that it is going to be impossible since Peñalosa is requesting much money”, said Peter Rivera, comanager of Lopez, champion superrooster of the OMB.

Lopez, who the 4 of October in the Coliseo of Puerto Rico KO in 47 seconds the Mexican Caesar Figueroa in his first defense, improving its mark to 23-0 with 21 KO, will be active in one of the semistellar fights of the event in which Manny Pacquiao and Oscar of the Hoya in the 6 of December in the MGM Grand

“I fight with Peñalosa but he is a champion and I’m also a champ, so that fight cannot be by pennys. If they put on the table six numbers to me, I fight tomorrow with him. I am certainly he does not last me more than six rounds”, maintained Lopez who emphasized in which he does not fear any rival to him of his division.

“I am arranged to fight with anyone, but this is a business and everything depends on stock-market. We know that following the level of the rival, thus it will be the economic agreement”, added the monarch boricua.

On the other hand, Rivera explained that there is been in conversations with Sampson Lewkowicz, that represents in the United States Sod, Poonsawat and Medina.

“Anyone of them would be a good rival for Juanma and we hoped to reach an agreement in the next days. They are boxers of quality with a good record and well are classified. We have not discarded either to Lontchi (that had initially announced like rival of Lopez for his first defense)”, added Rivera
Sod (39-2 with 18 nocauts), occupies the fifth place in the ranking of the OMB; his Poonsawat compatriot (36-1 with 25), is first in the AMB, sixth in the CMB and seventh in the OMB; Medina (33-1 with 18), occupies the sixth place in the FIB and the eleven in the OMB, and Lontchi (16-0-2 with 6) is fifth in the AMB, the ninth OMB and fourteenth in the FIB.

you are talking as if Pena was dominating Gonzales for the whole fight breaking him down and finally putting him out of his misery by KO'ing him when in reality, Gonzales was putting a clinic on Penalosa who didn't have an answer to Gonzales's skill set until he landed a that body shot.

That was not a performance that you put in the DVD player when you want to show how good Pena is because who ever watches it will say the same thing, "damn, he lucked out." Not like the other fight you mention, Gonzales/Vazquez where Jhonny WAS in the fight putting Vazquez down and effectively boxing him.

Pena would be the best fighter Juan Ma has ever faced, but lets be realistic here, no one can' truly think that what Pena is doing is WORTH Lopez's or ANY other fighter with a bigger name's time. His demands are downright ridiculous and only dumb, nuthugging faqqots are actually saying Pena is being reasonable. This is ****ing ridiculous

On a side note, aint it funny how when Marquez was demanding a larger purse for Pacquiao/Marquez II, he was being "ridiculous, unrealistic" and "managing his career poorly", this according to pinoy fans, but somehow Pena is being reasonable?

Of the four mentioned, here is how I would rank them in respect of deserving the shot at Lopez:

        1. Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym - Only one loss on his record, to a good fighter in Wladimir Sidorenko. Held an interim WBA title and has fought the best competition out of any of them.
        2. Olivier Lontchi - Undefeated and unproven. Don't know what to expect.
        3. Sod Looknongyangtoy - Lost only twice, but both were to Ponce, and one was a first round KO.
        4. Sergio Manuel Medina - His only loss was a very ugly fight with Bautista. I didn't see a whole lot to choose from in his skill set that is going to take him very far in this sport. Also consider that Bautista got sparked by Ponce, meaning that Sod's loss is better, and the fact that Lopez sparked Ponce.

I like Juanma, I think he has the talent to become a superstar of this sport, but is it me or he is getting a lil confident and talking a lot before the fights? Maybe I'm used to boxers like Cotto, who doesn't talk much but for a guy thats just beggining he is a lil overconfident jejejeje I kinda like that, he's the bad guy. I still remember when he slapped Polvo Oquendo in the face jajajajaja Go Juanma Go!!!!

Out of his 36 wins, the only fighter of note he defeated was Somsak ****something who like Poonsawat has won over a who's who of bums. He has fought only once outside Thailand and without hometown decision to help him, lost. This is a guaranteed KO win for Juanma.

Never fought out of Canada and has fought 10 and 12 rounders only 4 times in his career. Hasn't KOed anybody since moving down from featherweight where he used to campaign. He was knocked down in the first round by a bum in his last fight which ended in an eyebrow raising draw. Guaranteed KO win for Juanma.

The guy loses everytime he fights out of Thailand. Never fought anybody of note, except for De Leon. If this guy fights out of Thailand again, against a fighter with decent skills he'd lose - guaranteed.

Fought once outside Argentina and lost - against Bautista. He has decent skills but not really tested as his best opponent to date is Bautista who got smoked in one round by De Leon. Of the guys in this list, he'd probably give Juanma more rounds - three to be exact.

This definitely is a scary list of possible opponents for Juanma, they're waaaay better quality fighters than old-timer Gerry Penalosa. I'm sure team Juanma can afford to pay for these guys, and not overprice themselves out of a fight like Penalosa. Beggars can't be choosers.

Penalosa is a high risk low reward.. Lopez knows Penalosa hasn't been hurt in his entire career. Even Gonzalez and De Leon can't fight the old man toe to toe..
