Could Canada's Commonwealth CW Champ. Troy Ross make The Contender Season 4 Roster???

Being that the next edition of The Contender, (Season IV), will apparently showcase talent in the Cruiserweight Division as posted on Boxingscene and according to ESPN...>>>

And considering at least some of the 16 Cruiserweight Contenders will most likely hail from outside of the USA; Then without a doubt, Canada's own Commonwealth Cruiserweight Champion, Troy Ross would make a very fitting addition to the roster for Sugar Ray Leonard and Rocky's TV Series, imo...

To better give you an idea of how the devastating southpaw, Troy Ross (who played boxer John Henry Lewis in the movie "Cinderella Man", and acted as a young Samuel L Jackson or "Champ" in the movie "Resurrecting the Champ"), actually stacks up on paper with some other potential "Contenders"; Here are the names and records for the already prospected Cruiserweight Boxers for The Contender Season 4:

    O'Neal Bell (26-3-1, 24ko's), Vadim Tokarev (24-1-1, 17ko's), B.J. Flores (21-0-1, 13ko's), Darnell "Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson (23-7-3 20ko's), Matt Godfrey (16-1, 9ko's), Johnathon Banks (19-0, 14ko's), Aaron Williams (17-1-1, 12ko's), Shawn Hawk (16-0-1, 14ko's), Emmanuel Nwodo (22-4-0, 18ko's) , Ola Afolabi (12-1-3, 5ko's), Ehinomen Ehikhamenor (12-3-0, 7ko's) and Mike Alexander (12-2-0, 8ko's)

Troy Ross (17-1-0 12ko's) is a 2-time Olympian, is currently ranked 20th in the World by BoxRec, he went 3-0 with 3ko's in 2007, and is 1-0 so far in 2008 even though he's had a real problem getting fights and staying active, (perfect example: Troy was scheduled to fight this week-end in Montreal on the Alcine Vs. Santos under-card, but I've heard that his fight may have been canceled due to fact Group Yvon Michel who also handle Alcine, Ngoudjo and Pascal to name a few... could not secure a suitable opponent for Ross). So what do you think??? Does Troy Ross look like a fitting "Contender"???

The Canadian cruiserweight who impresses me is our local guy Kevin Reynolds (10-1, his one loss is a MD to a home fighter in Alberta). I just watched him from ringside last week. He has a good chin, some power, and boxing skills.

I was thinking if he was on The Contender, he would have a good chance of winning.

True Troy is 33 years old, but the man has had a hell of a time staying active, and not because he doesn't want to fight... That's one of the great things about The Contender; guys that have had a hard time, just like this devestating southpaw, when it comes to getting people to sign on the dotted line (and then show up), get a chance to really get some serious exposure! The man has been very successful in other areas as well (acting and his own clothing line) but if he wins this tournament, I expect Troy to get that title shot a hell of a lot quicker than he would have otherwise!

Kevin Reynolds eh... I haven't seen him fight yet, but being that I am from Toronto myself, (and the fact that I write for ********* Canada doesn't hurt) I'm sure I'll be hearing a lot more about your boy in the near future... I know he recently won on the undercard of Big Ray Vs Andreesen, and I've seen on his record that he defeated the current Canadian Cruiserweight Champ in '07 though he also does have a loss against former Champ Ryan Henney (both of whom btw are not even close to Troy's level)... But I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for him in the future and hopefully I can see him in action myself soon... It'd would be great for boxing over here in Canada if we had more World Class prospects, so all the best to Reynolds, though that obviously goes with-out saying...

Hehe, that's been public knowledge for a long ass time.

Troy Ross is a pretty good fighter, I know Shaun said he has worked with him in the gym a few times and he says he's world class.

I was somewhat impressed with Big Ray, he has a world-class jab. Sadly, he also seems to get tired after throwing a few punches. I think if he was younger than 38, with some improvement, he might become a real contender.

Myself and my old trainer both said we would have absolutely loved to have Big Ray in camp with us a few years ago because he truly has just about all the physical attributes required to be a Heavyweight Champ in the modern era!!! Big Ray is also a great guy personality wise, and I was extremely happy to see him rebound with a Big WIN after being upset at Rama on the Molitor Vs Caballero undercard... Big Ray still has some rounds left in him though, and I definitely ain't saying his carrer is nearly over by any means... I'd rather let him tell me that when he feels the time is right... Until then i only wish for the best for the Big Man!!!
