Calzaghe admits punching Hopkins low was deliberate

    From the London Daily Mail:

"WBC/WBA/WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe admitted to the London Daily Mail that he intentionally hit Bernard Hopkins low in the second round of their fight Saturday, but says Hopkins was faking it in the tenth when he went to the canvas from an apparent light shot below the belt from the Welshman. "What a crap actor," said Calzaghe. "He looked like he'd been shot in the balls, not hit. When I hit him there in the second round, that was proper deliberate. He'd knocked me down in the first so I had to give him a dig, didn't I? But the tenth — that was a lie, that one.....he's a cheat. He took three minutes off when I didn't touch him and he needed a rest. Joe Cortez should have been firmer. Hopkins is just a spoilt little girl, isn't he?""

    Just to reignite discussion.

Thats funny because I dont even remember Calzaghe's low blow in the 2nd round. In the tenth is was fairly clear to me that Joe didnt hit anywhere near Bernards balls and it seemed that even if he had hit them squarly, the punch was so weak it wouldnt have come close to doing the damage Hopkins acted like it did...

The arrogance. He's arrogant enough to admit it, like it's something he can do if someone hits him hard enough.

            exactly.

the shot cotto landed to judah's balls deserved the kind of reaction that hopkins made to calzaghe's "low blow"...

No doubt the glove touched below where it should go BUT the angle; power; and place of that punch shouldnt have caused any damage.

hopkins was simply trying to buy time. i think he was either tired (and trying to catch a breath) OR he was trying to disrupt calzaghe's rhythm; etc.

He hits a guy in the balls on purpose and he calls HOPKINS a cheat?

Hopkins is, indeed, a cheat, and a much bigger cheat. However, accepting he hit Hopkins with a low blow - in the second round - , is arrogance beyond measure.

                Hopkins cheat > Calzaghe cheat
                Calzaghe arrogance > Hopkins arrogance
                Hopkins racism = Toney racism

                    Who cares?

                    Mayweather fought Dirty against Hatton.

                    Clazaghe has did against Hopkins.
