I believe the mexican style gloves have less padding which is why their called punchers gloves. Personally unless your fighting pro i dont know why you'd get them for sparring because, when your sparring your not trying to hurt the other person your trying to work on technique also their is more of a chance with hurting your hands. I actualy use reeaally padded gloves. Im using ringside safety gloves right now for sparring and when im done with those i'l get the ringside heavy hitter gloves
