Update: Martin Castillo and Israel Vazquez

First off Merry Christmas to everyone.....

I thought I give you an update on Martin "GALLITO" Castillo and Israel "MAGNIFICO" Vazquez. And let you know where they are at in their careers.

As far as Castillo it seems the Jorge Arce talks are now dead for the moment. But Castillo was offer another fight on the under card of the Taylor-Pavlik rematch...The promoters have now offered Castillo a fight with current WBO Champ Fernando Montiel.

Castillo has verbally said he WANTS the fight. IMO it's a good fight and great opportunity for him to fight under the Pavlik-Taylor card. It's good exposure. As of right now that fight is in early negotiations and nothing has been signed.

Castillo also leaves tomorrow to Mexico. Where he will meet/and workout wit his new trainer Rudy Perez! (Israel Vazquez trainer and the former trainer of Barrera)

    .................................................. ............................................

As far as Israel Vazquez not only does he celebrate Christmas today. But he also celebrates his Birthday! Vazquez turns 30 today.

The Vazquez-Marquez II fight has been recognized by many as "FIGHT OF THE YEAR." Some of the boxing experts include The Ring Magazine(who also named it "Round of the Year") Maxboxing, Yahoo sports and by many others.

Vazquez just finished an interview/photo shoot with Sports Illustrated in Espanol. The article is expected to come out in Jan/Feb issue

As far as Vazquez-Marquez III....they are still in talks. Athough the fight looks promising at this point and time, it is not OFFICIAL. But the rumor is IF the fight happens, the fight will take place in Carson, Ca at the Home Depot Center on March 1st. And the first press conference will be around he second week of January.

Also there is a rumor that Showtime maybe doing a 3 episodes show (something similar to the 24/7 show) leading up to the Vazquez-Marquez III. Where they will film the behind the scenes of both fighters.

The depot center? Why there? Ugh...

I guess because of the meixcan fanbase, but why not staples?

          24/7 ripoff sounds good though.

That's up to the promoters where the fight will be held.

Thanks for the updates bro. Montiel-Castillo would be a good one.
I think Vasquez has Marquez number.

              Merry Christmas to you too.

Either fight for Castillo seems like a good fight with either Arce or Montiel. As for Vasquez it's pretty cool that his birthday is on Christmas. The 24/7 thing would be awesome. If it's at the Home Depot Center I might have to make a trip out to California to watch it. The first two fights were great, it's almost guaranteed the third one will be one to remember as well and definitely an early favorite for 2008 FOTY.

**** yeah, at Carson will be the areana to hold it at again. The first fight had a bunch of electicity and the fans went nuts when they fought. Im sure this time the site will be a sell out. I'am there, i went to the fist one, i will diffently go to the third one, every seat is great. And if Showtime does the 3 episodes that is just icing on the cake.

If Castillo v. Montiel gets made this fight can steal the show from the Main Event, i think this fight can be that exciting.

Quite, the Home Depot center has every seat a great view, i can't say the same from Staples since i never went to a fight there.
