How would have Floyd Mayweather Jr. dealt with a prime Meldrick Taylor?

Ive been thinking about this for a while. Meldrick was as quick as he was masterful at putting combinations together. He had great stamina and could box when he needed to. Floyd on the other hand has seemed to be able to figure out almost everyone who stepped in front of him. Would he become a counter puncher and try to get Taylor to chase and miss so he can score? Would he take the initiative and stick and move, always making sure that Taylor didnt get into his rythm? Sorry if this topic has been discussed already.

It would be tough for him because Meldrick is a combination puncher with handspeed just as good, if not better.

But I feel Mayweather would figure him out. He's got a little more to his game.

I think Floyd would have fought to a very similar style as he did with Zab Judah. Slowly stalk Taylor with a high gaurd, and systematically break him down.

      Floyd by UD.

Taylor would probably start Philly fighting, like he was prone to do (at least when I saw him, that's what he did, plus I've heard that he couldn't stop himself from doing so) and Mayweather would take advantage of it and counter him.

Maybe... I will admit, my knowledge of Meldrick is extremely limited (as in, I've seen Chavez I and Chavez II).

I'm sorry, but you dont really break Meldrick down.

You do realize he was an olympic gold medalist, right?

This would be FOTY, seriously. We all know how Meldrick fought and at 140 Floyd is not running from no one. All his fights there he was aggressive. It wouldve been a top notch match but I just like Floyd's D to be the deciding factor

That would actually be a great fight. Before fighting Chavez, Taylor could take a punch, and you know he'd be able to walk through Floyd's pot shots. As for actually hittin Floyd, well Taylor was just as fast as Zab, and Zab could get that straight left in on Floyd early. Plus Taylor could keep that speed for 12 rounds, so yeah...that **** would have been a good fight.

You do if you're Floyd Mayweather. (Just my opinion)

Too many weapons, too many options, just too versatile. Floyd's defense is better, and though Meldrick definitely throws more, Floyd is more accurate.

Don't get me wrong, it would be a very competitive fight.

He didn't break down against Chavez until he had swallowed a pint of blood and his internal organs were bleeding (which is why he pissed blood for extensive periods of time after the fight).

Floyd would not break him down, unless it is the post-Chavez I Taylor we are talking about.

Meldrick isn't some chump that you just beat up though.

He got beat by a single guy badly and that was Terry Norris. He was a little undersized in that bout and that is an understatement.

Meldrick is just as good as Mayweather at the boxing game. BUt Mayweather has more tricks up his sleeve and Meldrick goes to war a little bit too much.

                    Which is why Mayweather wins.

But know way he "breaks him down".
