  • Were these Knock downs? Seriously this makes or breaks a fight.

With the Mayorga Vargas fight coming up, I want some serious opinions. I going to put some real money on this fight, if the odds are right it might even be on Vargas. (im a mayorga fan but my money is unbiased). But after rewatching these so called Mayorga losses, like Spinks Mayorga. I thought Mayorga won easily.Clips are hard to find from this fight but this happend all over the 12 round fight. This makes or breaks a fight. Was this a Knockdown?

I have the fight but never watched it. Like you, I'ma big Mayorga fan, but I assume the ref waved it off because he said Ricardo held Spinks' head down. But you can make the argument that Spinks was the one who ran and ducked himself into his arm. Very close call..and the more I look at the clips the more I'm inclined to say knockdown.

I rewatched Mayorga-Forrest 2 last night. I found it hard to give Forrest more than 4 Rounds. His attitude said it all, he was scared to throw big, being teneative to punch. Not even to say the few time he just "buckled" to the canvas. He seriously just threw himself to the ground at very good times for himself. Clips are hard to find for most of them but I did get one from youtube to show what I mean. From their History together he knew Mayorga well by now. Anytime it was time for him to pay up for an exchange with Mayorga, these convenient "slips" would happen.

This happend many times through the fight but check this round out. After giving like 10 free shots, Forrest knows Mayorga will retaliate. At around 19 SECS. was this a knock down?

Perhaps the most notable thing about that Mayorga-Spinks fight is that Spinks got the questionable decision, when there was so much more money to be made for Don King with Mayorga emerging victorious.

So, if nothing else, you would think the judges were impartial. I disagreed with the decision at the time, and I did think there were 1-2 possible knockdowns (including the .gif in question) that were not counted as such by the ref.

Mayorga-Mosley was almost a done deal if Ricardo would have won that night.

But, if Mayorga is to beat Vargas this weekend, his two biggest options are a third fight with Forrest or a rematch with Spinks, both at 154 of course.

At 166 Vargas has every advantage. But I still have a feeling Mayorga somehow gets a W in this fight. So im not sure.

I dont want to see him fight Forrest again, he lost not once but twice. They both could move on to bigger fights.

Definently a knockdown imo. I thought mayorga won as well and I thought mayorga beat forrest 9 rounds to 3 in the second fight.

damn that was a knockdown and with this point and the other 2 that thek took from mayorga we would of won a slipt decision.

mayorga was a beast at 147 because he had incredible hand speed for such wild punches.....
