its not just accepting christ as your savior, its mainly about your actions as a person. theres a similar theme among religion and sinning isnt imedeate damnnation like there the idea of 7 circles of hell in the same sense some people might be in heaven living in a trailer and some in a castle. really not overkill at all.

and blood baptisim is just abstaining from things that society allows per your religion. the fact that society allows things and you abstain from it is what makes it like a prosecution. where maytredom would be prosecution to the point of death.

But this isn't what it says in the bible. In the bible, particularly in the new testament, membership is more important than works.

The seven circles of hell come from the imagination of Dante and are not in fact a part of abrahamic belief systems. There are religious traditions that refer to different hells for different sorts of sins but these tend not to be a graduated system of eternal punishment and are usually equally nasty.

So let's take a relatively innocuous "sin" that Jesus himself seemed to think was worthy of extreme punishment, and discuss checking out a good looking woman. Now Jesus said that you have "already committed adultery with her in your heart" and you should therefore pluck your eye out to save the rest of you from eternal fire.

By what objective standard is looking lustfully at a woman, remember just looking, worthy of any sort of punishment at all? Would you, for example, support a jail sentence for checking out women? Would you support a fine? A slap on the wrist? A stern talking to? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. But apparently it's justified to horribly torture somebody FOREVER for the same crime.

Hell is eternally painful because God is eternally Perfect. I think thats fair.

If god is eternally perfect then he ought to have done a better job of creation, and not made us to be so sinful. And before you start with the nonsense about the Fall if god really wanted us to not be sinners he could have stopped Eve from being tempted instead of declaring horrible punishments for disobedience thousands of years later.

The sermon on the mount is the high point of the gospels. He then goes on to spoil it a bit:

Adultery

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Divorce

31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’[f] 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Then Ephesians 2

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

I can find more. The bible does not say that you can be "saved" through good works alone and it also says that doing wrong isn't necessarily a barrier to getting to heaven. Seems to me the most important aspect is believing.

not really religion is a choice the plucking out your eye and that stuffs really just figurative for if something you have to give up hurts give it up for it is better then giving into feelings.

well this is a good read detailing the idea that the people brining christianity will be prosecuted by their parrents and brothers and such and these people need to be prepared for the prosecution. hes not saying kill your parrents or something like that but instead do not be tempted by your parents even if prosecuted by them to death.

your faith is your works.

the point of this is different its trying to say that your works have no value there is no good or evil only what is expected and what isnt expected touching on what i talked about like a week ago in here.
