If Hatton Hadn't Turned Down Mayweather...

those three times, he would be my favorite fighter. I'm so convinced of it, especially after he finally looked good again for an entire fight last night. His all-action style is the closest thing we have to Corrales now. I thought the way he gave Corrales' wife flowers and hugged her after the fight was terrific. It almost made me teary-eyed. He has power in both hands, but he's a genuine guy and he seems humble as hell.

    Until he talks about Mayweather.

Win, lose, or draw, I think he would be my favorite guy in the sport if he hadn't turned Floyd down three times. For that, while I may not like watching Mayweather the most, I respect him a hell of a lot more than Hatton.

And it's not even that Hatton turned Floyd down because that's fine. If you aren't ready, you aren't ready. But to turn a guy down and continuously talk about him and call him afraid and boring, etc is complete BS to me. Now he wants to call him out again when Floyd is a junior middleweight and he's still a junior welterweight. That's nonsense. Do you really think Floyd is going to go down to 140 to fight you? Why lose that weight and put yourself at risk? Does Hatton think this will help him? History has shown that it puts you at a disadvantage if you go back down in weight, especially late in your career. If Hatton wants to go at 147, that's perfectly fine, but I don't think he wants to.

Erase that debacle from Hatton's career and he is my favorite guy no doubt. As it stands, he's much farther down the list. Such is the way of boxing.

Well i dont think you can blame him.

Cause i think those offers were even before the tszyu fight were they not? There was one after i think and maybe you can blame him for that but before tszyu he was far to immature and wasnt ready for Mayweather

all three after the Tszyu fight

and this is exactly my problem. so many people bash Mayweather for not fighting Mosley right now, BUT HE MADE OFFERS TO MOSLEY IN THE PAST. Mosley turned them down, and nobody got mad at Mosley. Now they wanna get mad at Floyd for doing the same thing? Get out of here.

if Hatton's own fans (not picking on you, kball), don't even know about him turning down Mayweather fights, how can we expect the boxing public (if there is such a thing to know)? you could be supporting a guy for taking on all comers and find out he turned down the biggest fight of his career on 3 separate occasions.

If you deny it it's not true? It actually happened. The WORDS came out of Hatton's mouth.

I'm sorry that doesn't sit well with you.

Point is...if you really WANT TO fight the guy then fight him. I'd wait for Joe Blow as long as he wants to if I really wanted to fight him.

I do not think that is the point, honestly. It's really about timing with these fights. Not desire or lack thereof. I think for what it's worth, Hatton has been honest in stating that he was just not ready in the past to fight May and I respect his honesty. However, one must also respect Floyd's decision to take his time in deciding who he'll fight next. If Ricky is not being called a "ducker" than for sure, Mayweather can not be called one either.

I believe with time and Hatton increasing his weight, they may very well meet up. Me personally, I could care less. I'm indifferent about Floyd at this time.
