Even Margarito's biggest nuthuggers have to realize that this man is flat out ducking Paul Williams. There are just too many obvious reasons:
1. Arum has no problem allowing Cotto fight his mandatory since Urkal is not a serious threat. If Cotto is able to fight his mandatory before a fight in June, why can't Margarito fight his?
2. Paul Williams roughed up Margarito in sparring. If that wasn't true, then why wouldn't Margarito fight him? He obviously know what Paul can do from their sparring sessions.
3. Many people have called for Margarito to drop the WBO belt and become a mandatory for another champion in order to a bigger fight. Up until this point, he was unwilling to do so. Now he has the opportunity to fight another champion and doesn't need to drop his belt, yet he's willing to drop it now all of a sudden?
4. Margarito has had mismandatory after mismandatory up until now. I find it strange he would drop his title when the first real challenging mandatory shows up.
5. All of Margarito's losses are to southpaws and Williams would be the best southpaw he ever faced.
6. He had the chance to get the mandatory out of the way by fighting Williams in December. This would have cleared the way for a Cotto fight without anyone claiming Margarito was ducking. Instead, Margarito chooses to fight Clottey knowing he would have to fight Williams before he could face someone like Cotto. The fact that he didn't face Williams in December and refuses to face him now shows that Margarito never intended to fight Paul Williams.
This is the most blatant duck in the history of the sport...
