First off, Cotto and Floyd were both in the same stable until the Oscar fight. So the fight would have been made eventually but Floyd just didn't want to face Margarito. I find it comical to bring up that whole Margarito/Cotto .... man just fight Margarito now, Cotto fight will happen when it happens ..... consequently we had the Margarito duck!

Arum stated that Floyd was on top of the hill and if there was one guy that can beat him was Cotto. Unfortunatley, when Cotto was ready, Floyd went on a long vacation.

Manny vs Oscar was made yet Oscar was not part of Top Rank so you can't say a fight can't be made. The fact of the matter is that Floyd retired when the WW division was starting to get interesting.

Why was the Cotto fight made this year? This was too late my friend. At this point in time, Cotto is low risk high reward (ie money) for Floyd. Everyone new that. So it was made easily.

How was it an excuse? Again timelines are very important .... Floyd could have fought Margarito the year prior to fighting Oscar but Floyd never wanted to fight Margarito.
