  • Is Haye correct when he calls Vitali "Boente's Puppet"?

In the above press conference which announced Haye's return, several times he refers to Vitali as "Boente's Puppet" and "not the man I thought he was". Haye basically describes Vitali as being at the mercy of his promoter, unable to make his own decisions, a pawn on the chessboard so to speak.

How long has this been the case? Has Vitali always functioned as a puppet like this, is it a relatively recent development or do you disagree with Haye and believe Vitali is in complete control of his own career and the choices he makes within boxing?

Boente was actually optimistic about a Haye fight at the end of last year and so he should be, more money for Vitali = more money for him. I think it's Vitali not wanting to risk a loss, the title gets him respect and popularity which helps his political career. He doesn't want to lose that.

Team klitshko don't want to give away any money and that's the likely issue

Like him or not, Haye brings a lot of interest to a fight between him and vitali, it would be an event

But team klitshko will only pay their usual amount this time.

Guys like Adamek etc get pathetic pay packets for klitshko fights, and Haye is the only contender in the division who can draw, so he's not going to settle for chump change.

A lot of this stuff is financial, Haye has always been about the money, and is one of the richest fighters in the sport currently, hence why he won't accept measly pay, but at the same time after the wlad debacle the Klitschko's want like 90% split this time.

Haye is a nobody. He can get back in line like every other contender. He doesn't deserve special treatment.

A nobody that can sell more tickets than any other fighter either bro could get in the ring with. A nobody who (accorging to your logic) was the heavyweight champion of the world because he had one of the 4 major belts. If Haye is a nobody the division is worse off than we all imagined!

Current Vitali stil beats Haye; but what has Haye done to earn a title shot? Beat Chisora? He needs to be more active and take his boxing career seriously.

I agree with all of this. But the question remains...what did Charr, Chisora, Solis, Briggs or Sosnowski do to earn shots? Fighters SHOULD have to earn their way to a big fight for a ABC trinket, but the standards dhould be the same for everyone. If those guys got their shot than why not Haye?

lol, Haye is just being Haye.

He's using his mouth to try and lure Vitali into fighting him. We've seen this before for 2 years between him and Wladimir, dating back to 2009.

I give him credit he really knows how to convince the public and media and keep himself relevant.
