I can't find any information on whether he is dead or not so I'd assume he is still alive.

He was the number 1 ranked HW contender once with wins over a prime Ezzard Charles and Jersey Joe Walcott.

Here are some names I came up with:

Oldest Hall of Famer: Jimmy Bivins? (born 1919)
Oldest world champion: Jake LaMotta (born 1921)

Oldest HW champion: Muhammad Ali (born 1942)
Oldest HW title holder: Ernie Terrell (born 1939)
Oldest HW title contender: Roland LaStarza? (born 1927)

Oldest LHW champion: Harold Johnson (born 1928)
Oldest WW champion: Carmen Basilio? (born 1927)

Can you think of any others?

I'll tell you who's definitely not alive: Sugar Ray Robinson. Punk kicked the bucket in 1989 just to avoid fighting legends like Roy Jones Jr., Timothy Bradley, and Amir Khan. If he hadn't left this mortal coil he would have had no choice but to stop ducking Mike Tyson, who in turn would have never lost to Buster Douglas.
