  • The top light heavyweights are avoiding Sergey Kovalev

Sergey Kovalev says he's been hoping for a big fight against a top five light heavyweight, but he now says it looks like it's not going to happen this year.

All this guys complaining why they don't get a title shot.

He should have become the IBF mandatory after he beat Campillo.

Campillo is slated for the next IBF eliminator but Kovalev is not, as far as I know. Go figure.

The sanctioning organizations just cater to the big promoters.

He certainly looked very impressive against Campiilo.

He's high risk low reward for most fighters so I'm not surprised he's being frozen out.

He showed real punching power against Campillio. He seems like a genuine power puncher unlike someone like Cloud who's power is extremely overrated.

That's totally insane. I cannot fathom what basis they would have to rank Campillo over Kovalev.

As to the thread question, Kovalev should stay active even if he's fighting lower profile opponents. Also, I'm sure NBC would put him back on one of their bills, especially since he looked so impressive in his last performance.

Kovalev is a legitimate world class fighter. Great fundamentals, has no glaring flaws and has a fun hard punching pressing style.

I'd love to see him against a good fighter. I think he'd take B-HOP at this stage.
