Vitali has been avoiding the Haye fight since September 2011 but more publicly since Haye knocked Chisora out. When Vitali fought Chisora he never came close to knocking him out, in fact Chisora was his hardest fight since he came out of retirement. After seeing what Haye did to him, Vitali went back on his promise to fight the winner and disappeared into obscurity.
After Wladimir was defeated by Brewster he waited for 3 years before rematching him. It's only when he found out that Brewster had a serious eye injury (detached retina) and had been inactive for over a year that Wladimir finally desired the rematch because he knew Brewster wouldn't be able to perform to anywhere near his full capability.
This is generally the Klitschko way, gain as much advantage as possible before the fight, so the question now remains - will Vitali Klitschko now "man up" and decide to call out Haye since Haye has now sustained severe injury?
