Sergio "Maravilla" Martínez is looking closer at retirement, from the rough and tumble, plus wear and tear of boxing.
And that's precisely why his family is asking him to soon call it a day.
“My mother doesn’t want me to continue boxing and her decision and thoughts are very important for me. But...for the time being I’m fully focused on Miguel Cotto. Then I’ll make a decision” he pledged.
“There are many chances that I will retire if I beat Cotto” he said during an interview.
This fight will take place on June 7th at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Martinez wants to retire from boxing with a great victory and leave a memorable boxing career embossed in the pages of history.
“I can’t regret anything in boxing. It's given me everything! if I retire I want to do it in a great way” he stressed.
