    Look at how many different nationalities and languages that make up modern American society. All of the various languages, tones, and dialect had to fit into one common English language. That is where the American accent came from.

            some say the american accent existed already somewhere in england and was brought here.

            one of the weirdest explanation i heard from a history buff oldie i once met was that it was part of the revolution against england, to speak in a different accent.

            but why do british singers sing w/ the american accent? or w/o it?
