    Pep
    Locche
    Moore
    These guys are the premium

    Now for the almost premiums:
    Whitaker
    Benny Leonard
    Jack Johnson
    Tunney

The B level defensive fighters (they are great fighters, not calling them b level overall but their defense when compared to the others):
    Mayweather
    Hopkins
    Benitez
    Marquez
    Holmes

And then great offensive fighters with exceptional defence:
    Chavez Sr
    Duran
    Pacquiao
    young Tyson
    Frazier

There are some terrific all round fighters with great defenses too, Robinson, Armstrong, Ray Leonard and Ali would probably fall into that category too.

Locche was so good, the judges should've awarded him with a point for every time he's managed to cause his opponents to miss.

Willie Pep was just as effective defensively but wasn't nearly as flashy (as no one else was either), and he's still arguably one of the Top 5 P4P.

George Benton is one name that's yet to be mentioned.

Billy Conn was pretty good also, Pep is the best I've seen with moving into his opponent using head movement and shoulder rolls and not getting hit! When Pep wanted to focus exclusively on D you couldn't hit him.

This whole reply is full of weird.

You've got Marquez with Mayweather. You've got Leonard, Tunney, Johnson and Moore rated as being clearly above B level defensive fighters like Floyd, Hopkins, and Benitez.

You have Pacquiao listed as amongst those fighters with 'exceptional defense'. Even having become more defensively aware in recent years, he's not now, never has been, and never will be an exceptional defensive fighter, no matter what his style.

I seriously can't decide if this guy is a complete moron, was dropped at birth, or actually genuinely believes some of the stuff he writes. Either way, Fat Eddie...awesome.

...and of course he's going to list both Haye and Klitscko. Doubly awesome.

Ray Leonard, who boasts hand speed probably on par with anyone who ever laced 'em up, threw 20 to 25 right hands in the first round against Wilfred Benitez ... and landed zero.

He even, in accordance with his game plan, tried to follow with the left hook on most of them ... and repeatedly whiffed.

In his corner after the round, Angelo Dundee told him to forget about the right hand.

Leonard responded: "But he's right there!"

In his prime, Benitez was a wonder to behold.

I wouldn't rule out any of those options.

                    They can all be true.

                      Easy.........

Whitaker is the greatest defensive fighter of all-times. Noone got hit less against top opposition. You could not consistently hit him with any one punch. Not a jab, not hooks, not to the body. I would have to say that Pep is second and Floyd is third. Pep is second and Floyd is third because of the skill of their opponents.
